Alpha AB’s
1. Runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs
a. In these AB’s the Pitcher is trying to
i. Get you to roll over
ii. Get weak fly ball
iii. Punch you out
iv. Typically going to off speed to attack
b. We want to score this runner 70% of the time
i. This doesn’t take a hit
ii. We are looking to drive the ball on the ground hard middle away
c. We are not taking strike one
i. We are going into this with a street fight mentality “I’m throwing the first
punch”
ii. I don’t need to lay off the off speed for a strike because I am looking to
drive the ball middle away hard on the ground, so I am already prepared to
do this.
2. Runner at 2nd with 2 outs
a. We will give them strike one
b. We are going to be the aggressor and look to attack early
c. Not taking strike 2
d. Pitchers tend to lose focus with 2 outs we want to take advantage of that
e. 2 out RBI’s are backbreakers
f. “I am the hunter; he is the hunted”

iv. Pitcher/Middle Infield
