Let's craft some stories!
📚
Create a story to accompany your artwork. You can use the present simple and present
continuous tenses, as well as comparatives, which we have studied in class. Don’t forget
to express your thoughts and feelings about environmental issues in your story 🌿♻️.
Finally, present your stories to the class.
▶️ Example guide for making a story:
1. Introduction of the Hero: In this part you will introduce your character. You can
describe their name, appearance, and special abilities. For example, “This is the story of
Eco-Man. Eco-Man is a brave superhero who loves nature. Eco-Man wears a green cape
and can talk to animals and plants” or “This is the monster Hugo, he is very ugly and lazy.
Hugo is tall and has green skin.”
2. Environmental Problem: Talk about the problem your villain/hero faces. It could be
dirty water in a river, trees being cut in a forest, or garbage in a park. For example,
“Eco-Man has got a big problem. The river near his home is very dirty. There's trash
everywhere, like plastic bottles and bags. Animals are sad because they can't swim.” In
the case of the character being an antagonist (monster) you could say the following:
“One of the monster’s problem is that he likes to throw garbage into the ground.”
3. Solution to save the planet: Explain what the hero does to fix the problem and help
the planet. In the case of having created a monster/villain, explain how we could solve
the problem and become a better person with the environment. They might clean up
trash, plant trees, or teach others about taking care of the environment. For example,
“Eco-Man decides to help! He jumps into the river and starts cleaning. His animal friends
help too. Together, they collect all the trash and put it in bags.”
4. Challenges: Talk about the difficult parts that both the hero and the antagonist deal
with. This could be bad guys who don't like protecting the environment or big problems
like storms from climate change. For example in the case of having a hero you could say:
“But wait! There's a villain, the Plastic Monster. He wants to keep polluting the river.” In
the case of having chosen a monster you could say: “The monster is very lazy and that is
why he enjoys throwing things into the ground.”
5. Achieving Success: Explain how the hero and the villain solve the problems and wins.
For example, "With help from his friends, Eco-Man defeats the Plastic Monster. They
clean all the trash from the river. Now, the water is clean again, and the animals are
happy!” In the case of having chosen an antagonist you could say “The monster learns
that throwing things into the ground is bad for the nature and for him because it
damages the world he lives in.”
6. Ending and Lesson: End the story by talking about why taking care of the
environment is important and how each person can help protect the planet. For example,
“Eco-Man learns an important lesson. He knows that everyone can help protect the
planet. By working together and caring for nature, we can make the world a better place
for everyone.” “The monster learns an important lesson. He realizes that he has to
protect the planet because it is his home.
7.Title: Don’t forget to give your story a title! ⚠️
▶️ Example of the structure:
Timmy, the eco-hero saves the day!
In Green Valley, there is a boy named Timmy. Timmy is special. He is known as Captain
Recycle, the Eco-Hero! And he has a super power, Helping the Earth!
One sunny day, Captain Recycle sees something bad near the river. The river is full of
trash like plastic bottles and cans. Captain Recycle knows he has to help.
He puts on his cape made from old clothes and his mask made from paper. Captain
Recycle gets ready to clean up. He takes his recycling bin and starts to work.
While cleaning, Captain Recycle tells everyone about recycling and keeping things clean.
Each piece of trash he picks up makes him feel strong.
After a lot of work, the river is clean again! People cheer for Captain Recycle. But he
knows he needs to keep helping. He promises to protect the Earth and teach others to
do the same, one piece of trash at a time.
