Note: No credit fee will be charged for the 1-credit subject “CBS5T01 Professional Ethics and Academic

A Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution.

Applicants may be required to take entry tests and/or attend interviews.

If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor's degree or
equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of
instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the University's
minimum English language requirement.

持有由有效機構頒發的學士學位。

申請人或需參加入學試及/或面試。

若申請人的母語並非英語，且頒發學士學位或同等學歷的機構並非以英
語為教學語言， 申請人須符合大學最低的英語入學要求。

The Master of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature

(MACLL)/Postgraduate Diploma in Chinese Language and Literature
(PgDCLL) programme helps students to acquire basic knowledge of
Chinese language, literature and culture, the skills necessary for teaching
Chinese and the ability to apply what they have learned to their work.

課程旨在提高學生在中國語言、文學及文化三方面的知識水平，培養其從事中文
教學的技能。
This programme is designed to equip students with the following professional skills: 透過課程訓練，學生能夠培養以下能力：

Professional Competence 專業技能

the ability to present complex ideas clearly and articulately in appropriate 恰當、準確地用中文表達複雜的概念
forms of Chinese;
融會、分析古代漢語或當代漢語的不同語體，辨認關鍵問題，
the ability to assimilate and analyse complex information in different genres
or registers of classical or contemporary Chinese, identifying key issues 並得出合理的結論
and drawing well-reasoned conclusions; 善用參考書和資訊科技尋找所需的資料，以輔助中文教學
the ability to use reference books and information technology to obtain
information needed for Chinese teaching and learning; 賞析中國文學作品
the ability to appreciate and analyse works in Chinese literature; 發掘、分析及處理中文教學與測試的問題
the ability to discover, analyse and handle issues in Chinese language
teaching and testing;
分析中國傳統文化
the ability to analyse Chinese cultural tradition.

Strategic Thinking 策略思考

the ability to assess current issues in literature or linguistic theories. 對文學理論或語言學理論的最新議題作出評價

Lifelong Learning Capability 終身學習

enhanced lifelong learning capability through inquiry and reflection on 通過對本地及全球語境中語言理論和實踐問題的研究和思考，
theories and practices concerned with language in both local and global 培養終身學習的能力
contexts.

The MACLL and the PgDCLL are listed by the Education Bureau as a Recognised Language Major Degree Programme (Chinese
Language) and an Approved Post-graduate Programme in Subject Knowledge (PGSK) for Chinese Language Teachers,
respectively.

中國語文文學碩士課程及中國語文深造文憑課程分別獲香港教育局批准的「認可主修中國語文科目的學位課程」及「認可學位教師﹝中文學
科知識﹞課程」。

MACLL is for current Chinese teachers in primary or secondary schools who seek professional training recognized by the Education Bureau,
or students who seek career or professional development in the field of education, Chinese language and literature.

MACLL適合正在尋求香港教育局認可專業培訓的在職中小學中文科教師，或在教育、中國語言和文學領域尋求職業或專業發展的學生。

CBS Postgraduate Scholarship is an entry scholarship, which offers a 50% tuition waiver to applicants with outstanding intellectual
potential to complete an MA thesis and have achieved excellent academic results in the qualifications already obtained.

CBS Distinguished Postgraduate Scholarship is a graduation scholarship, which is worth 50% of the tuition fee for graduates who have
completed their MA thesis and graduated with excellent academic achievements.

No separate application is required for the scholarships. Applicants who have submitted their application will be automatically
considered for the Entry Scholarship.

“中文及雙語學系碩士生獎學金” 為半免學費入學獎學金，將頒予入學成績優異，並具備學術潛質完成碩士畢業論文的申請人，每年名額不定。

“中文及雙語學系優異碩士生獎學金” 為半免學費畢業獎學金，將頒予在學成績優異，並成功撰寫學術論文的畢業生，每年名額不定。

獎學金不須額外遞交申請表格，遞交入學申請的申請人會被自動考慮。

After 4 years of teaching Chinese abroad, I realised there were some fields in this
discipline that I was still keen to learn. I had come across Prof. Zhu Xinhua's
publications, whereupon I encountered MACLL. The programme has provided me
with the flexibility to choose among various subjects and explore new areas
including special educational needs, research methodology and Chinese
proficiency testing. Recently, I've just been offered a teaching position by a
well-reputed middle school in Shenzhen. Studying MACLL has become a turning
point in my career.
