Ladies and Gentlemen, Brothers and Sisters, Peace be upon you all.

Today, as we stand at the crossroads of history, we find ourselves witnessing the

continuation of a destructive war between Russia and Ukraine, a conflict that not
only threatens the sovereignty of nations but also brings untold suffering to millions
of people. It is our duty, as believers in justice and in the pursuit of peace, to reflect
deeply on the implications of this war, to understand its causes, and to chart a
course that promotes stability and unity for all nations.

The conflict that we see in Ukraine today is not an isolated event; it is a

manifestation of larger global power dynamics that have long shaped our world.
While the immediate violence is happening in Ukraine, the underlying issues are far-
reaching, affecting all nations, including those in the Middle East. Therefore, it is
essential that we view this conflict with clarity, through the lens of justice and
Islamic principles.

The Role of Western Powers

We must first recognize that Western powers, particularly the United States and its
NATO allies, bear significant responsibility for creating the conditions that have led
to this war. For years, the West has pursued a policy of expansion, encircling Russia
through NATO and pushing the boundaries of its influence further eastward. Ukraine
has been a key piece in this strategy, serving as a geopolitical pawn in a larger game
between the West and Russia.

This expansionist approach by the West is not new. We have seen it in our own
region, in the endless meddling of foreign powers in the affairs of Muslim-majority
countries. The interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, and the continued
support for the Zionist regime in Palestine, all stem from the same mindset: a belief
that might makes right, and that the sovereignty of other nations is secondary to the
strategic interests of the Western powers.

The West, particularly the United States, has long used its military and economic
power to impose its will on weaker nations. This approach, fueled by greed and the
desire to dominate, has caused immense suffering, the displacement of millions,
and the destruction of cultures and societies. It is against this backdrop that the war
in Ukraine must be understood.
The Russian-Ukrainian Conflict

In Ukraine, we see a complex situation. Russia, feeling encircled and threatened by

the expanding influence of NATO, has chosen to take military action to secure what
it perceives as its national interests. Ukraine, a nation caught between great powers,
has been thrust into a conflict that it did not seek. The people of Ukraine are
suffering the most from this war, with countless lives lost, cities destroyed, and
families torn apart.

From an Islamic perspective, we must always seek justice and the protection of the
innocent. War is a grave matter, and it is only permissible in the defense of one’s
homeland, when one is faced with aggression. It is unfortunate that the Ukrainian
people are now bearing the brunt of a conflict driven by external powers. The West,
in its pursuit of dominance, and Russia, in its attempt to defend its borders, have
placed the Ukrainian people in a tragic and dangerous position.

We cannot ignore the fact that this conflict could have been avoided. Diplomatic
solutions could have been pursued, and negotiations could have taken place to
address the legitimate concerns of all parties involved. But instead, both sides have
chosen the path of war, with the West pouring arms into Ukraine and Russia
responding with military force. The result is widespread destruction, suffering, and
instability.

The Need for Peace and Diplomacy

As a nation that has long suffered from foreign intervention and has witnessed the
horrors of war, Iran stands firmly in favor of peace and diplomacy. We have always
believed that dialogue, based on mutual respect and the principles of justice, is the
only way to resolve conflicts between nations. In the case of Ukraine, we call on all
parties to immediately cease hostilities and to come to the negotiating table.

The continuation of this war benefits no one. It only serves to deepen divisions,
increase suffering, and push the world closer to further instability. The international
community must play its role in facilitating dialogue between Russia and Ukraine,
and in addressing the underlying security concerns that have fueled this conflict. The
sovereignty of nations must be respected, and the legitimate concerns of all parties
must be acknowledged.

The Role of the Muslim Ummah

As Muslims, it is our duty to stand for justice, to support the oppressed, and to work
for peace. The war in Ukraine is a reminder of the destructive consequences of
unchecked power, of the dangers of imperialism, and of the suffering that arises
when dialogue and diplomacy are abandoned. We must not be silent in the face of
injustice, wherever it occurs.

The Muslim Ummah, united in its principles of justice and compassion, must play an
active role in promoting peace in the world. We have seen enough of the damage
caused by war. Our region has suffered immensely from conflicts driven by foreign
powers, and we must now stand as advocates for peace and justice.

Lessons for the World

The war in Ukraine is a warning to the world. It shows us the fragility of peace and
the ease with which great powers can plunge the world into chaos. It is a reminder
that the pursuit of dominance and expansion comes at a great cost, one paid by
ordinary people who lose their lives, their homes, and their futures.

But it is also a moment for reflection and action. The world must come together to
ensure that such conflicts do not continue. Nations must respect the sovereignty of
others and seek solutions through dialogue, not war. The people of Ukraine, like the
people of Palestine, Syria, Yemen, and others, deserve peace, security, and the right
to determine their own futures, free from the interference of foreign powers.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the ongoing war in Ukraine is a tragedy that must be brought to an end.
It is the responsibility of the international community to promote peace, not conflict,
to support diplomacy, not militarism. Iran will continue to stand on the side of justice,
advocating for a peaceful resolution to this conflict and calling for an end to the
suffering of the Ukrainian people.

Let us remember the words of our Holy Prophet (PBUH): "The best of people are
those who bring the most benefit to the rest of mankind." May we strive to be among
those who bring peace, justice, and security to the world. And may Allah grant us the
wisdom and strength to do so.

Peace be upon you all.
