“Hedgehog in the Fog” is a Soviet cartoon about a little hedgehog that is making his
way through a scary wood carrying a bag of sweets for his friend’s bear cub, unknowingly
stalked by an owl. Continuing he sees, a white horse standing in a fog and gets concerned
about it. Thereafter the fog becomes the main part of the plot, revealing and hiding several
characters that amaze, help, or alarm him (Norstein, 2011). Hedgehog gets attracted to a large
tree, and he loses his sweets, only to have them returned to him by a dog. It accidentally slips
into a stream, is saved from drowning by a fish, and finds its friend the bear who fusses as to
his whereabouts. The film ends whereby the hedgehog in deep thought about everything that
had happened.
The film has dormant particular colors, allowing one to do one super creative thing of
telling the story through color. Different colors in the film “Hedgehog in the fog” influence
different moods and carry the audience’s attention as described in the film by the use of black
and white colors indicating suspense (Norstein, 2011). Recently it was discovered that certain
colors in the right context could enhance memory. In addition, high street and online shops to
increase sales by enhancing positive moods across a wide range have used it.
Lighting in this film is the most critical aspect because it allows setting the mood of
the film. Lighting also has been used to add color and texture to otherwise bland
environments and scenes. It also communicates the mood and atmosphere of the film helping
