CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF
ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
Consequences:
.Consequences for human beings:
They cause eye irritation and respiratory problems, as well as fatigue, migraines and a series of
cardiovascular diseases.
.Consequences on climate and environment:
The possibilities of the appearance of the greenhouse effect increase. In addition to the alterations
it causes in the climate with weather phenomena, it is also capable of preventing sowing in sections
of the soil where contaminated agents reside.
.Consequences on flora and fauna:
This fact has allowed the disappearance of some plants and animals that are in danger of extinction.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL
POLLUTION
WATER CONTAMINATION
• Water is a natural resource essential for life. It constitutes a primary need
for health, which is why it should be considered one of the basic human
rights. In today's societies, water has become a very precious commodity,
due to scarcity, it is a source of life and economic development is
dependent on the availability of water.
• The natural water cycle has a great purification capacity. But this same
ease of regeneration and its apparent abundance makes it the usual
dumping ground for waste: pesticides, chemical waste, heavy metals,
radioactive waste, etc. Water degradation dates back a long time, but it
was only in this century that this problem has spread to rivers and seas
around the world.
SOIL POLLUTION
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL
POLLUTION
It is the introduction, in unusual concentrations, of chemical
substances into the soil. It produces the loss of soil properties.
It exists of two types:
.Specific: Located in a specific place. Related to mining, industrial
landfills and septic tanks
.Diffuse: Scattered deposition. Related to the use of
agrochemicals in agriculture and atmospheric deposition.
AIR POLLUTION
Pollution can be defined as any undesirable modification of the
environment, caused by the introduction of physical, chemical or biological
agents (pollutants) in quantities greater than natural quantities, which is

harmful to human health, damages natural resources or alters the balance.
ecological.
Sources of gaseous pollutants can be, for example:
Continuous emissions such as:
• The discharge from chimneys, open burning of mercury, emissions from
machines, vehicles and traffic in general, deaeration of tanks and volatile
emanations from the surface of waste lagoons.
• Instantaneous/momentary emissions such as all types of accidental
emissions (for example fires).
CONCLUSION
A possible solution to this problem is an agreement between all the
countries of the world to create an international environmental regulation
so that all the countries of the world can apply and comply with it.
These points should be considered in this regulation:
• Control the use of fertilizers and pesticides
• Do not throw garbage in undesignated areas
• Create citizen awareness
• Create drainage routes for industries that do not reach the seas or rivers,
using them for the service or consumption of man or animals.
• Control oil spills and accidents
• Control mine tailings
