PROTECTING THE NIGERIA CHILD FROM DANGERS OF ONLINE TECHNOLOGY

In the digital age, technology has become an inseparable part of our lives, offering
immense benefits but also posing significant risks, especially to the most vulnerable members of
the society – children in Nigeria as in many parts of the world. The rapid proliferation of online
platforms has given rise to new challenges in safe guarding children against the potential dangers
of the internet.

Parent should have honest conversation with their children about who they communicate
with and how and who can see what they post online explain that anything that goes online
pictures, videos, comments thing they share with others and what others post and share with
them and any bad thing can cause problem or conflicts in the community or society.

Cyber bulling is an act that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computer,
and tablets .Cyber bullying can occur through SMS, text and apps, or online in social media.
Children must understand that discriminating people is never acceptable by some people no one
should spread rumours or share hurtful or embarrassing stories or photos. Children should
understand that what is a joke to them may be deeply hurtful to other people so they should be
mindful of what they send and post online because of safety of other children.

Parents should also monitor their children online technologies usage they should ask
their children to show them all what they use internet for on their phone to know what they are
using the internet for on their phone, either they are using it negatively or positively .

Parent should also discover the best practices and parental control that will protect their
children on the internet, ensuring their safety and peace of mind example from net nanny to
circle, home plus tools, empower parents to create a safer online word for their children.

Parent should further more tell their children to feel free to tell them anything bothering
them or if anyone is threatening them they should feel free to walk up to them and tell them what
happened and also create a conducive environment for the children. They should make the
children understand that is not all they see on internet that are real so they should not try to
imitate everything they see online. They should be watch full of what their do online, who they
follow online, their online friend, what they see and post online who they wish to be like, the
things the things they see and comment online and they should make them understand that is not
all what they see, they should react and talk on online.

Parent can also protect their child from online technologies by installing educational apps
to keep the children busy educational apps like U lesson app, can help to protect child’s online
technologies. They can also indulge them in home lesson by teachers to make the children busy
at home not to use that time for online browsing.
The school can also help the student by addressing them on when and how they need to
use the internet devices because it can cause different harm to the children.

The society can help by holding a program on how parent should caution their children
online technology so that there would not be any danger of online technology.

The government can help by employing educational teachers that will educate the children
on how to use the internet wisely to prevent harm of online technology.

In conclusion the digital age has brought many opportunities for learning, communication,
and entertainment, but it is also necessitates vigilance to protect our children from it darker
aspect. Ensuring the online safety of Nigerian children is a pressing issues that demand the joint
effort of government, industry, educators, and families. By adopting a comprehensive
approaching, we can create a safe environment where children can create a safe environment
