EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The inspiration for Fragrance Essence came from a desire to help customers
feel better and share a diversity of scents. The business partners invested P2,500 each
for a total of P12,500.00 as initial capital. Comparatively, in the first semester, we had
a net income of 49% amounting to 15,850.00 while in the second semester it gained a
19% amounting to P67,400.00 and it is clear that during our first semester of
implementation, it got off to a strong start, and in the second semester, we were able
to have great sales, indicating that the business has a lot of room to develop and the
capacity to grow and the business maintain the entire operation with no liabilities.

Since our production of perfume is weekly, we also decided to have weekly

sales to monitor if we are earning or not. The sales for week one to week four which
is the month of January the line is stable because we taught that it is good to have
increase in targeted sales monthly but since we realized that it is better to increase
weekly by ten so you can see at the line that it is increasing because we are following
our targeted sales by week as a group. Our business is all about perfume and it is not
like foods that are consumable every day and it is not necessary or needs of all people
so sometimes some of the members cannot hit the target, the other member sells the
remaining perfumes. Even though we cannot hit the target sales weekly, we work hard
to hit the target by next week or before the month ends.
In starting a business there must be a marketing strategies in order to be
known the products to be sold and to help increase the sales. Creating a Facebook
page and making tarpaulins are the common strategies that we make and development
strategies, we will focus on another kind of market by the same product, develop a
product for the same kind of market, and different product for different market. Thus,
the business will upgrade the value of scent and improvement of the product and sell
directly to the customer. We created a Facebook page for us to post updates on the
business.

It is advised that this business be kept going even after graduation by

concentrating on this type of market, however we are free to choose another. The
value proposition may also include diversifying its product design. Additionally, by
improving the process to a better way.

SECTION I
INTRODUCTION

A business that satisfies the needs and the wants of the future possible
customers. It is the business that not only the entrepreneurs, gain but also the
consumers.

Perfume can help customer feel better. Wearing a perfume that reflects your
mood might also help you project it more effectively. Whether you're feeling fun,
mischievous, timid, or even reserved, perfumes come in a variety of scents to suit
your mood. It has traditionally been used largely for scent. It helps to keep you smell
fresh all day.

As we tackled about our business, we make sure that the supplier of our
formulated perfume has a good quality and fragrant varieties of scents so that we
won't disappoint our future customer. To do that, we make sure that our supplier has a
positive feedback from others and her workplace is clean. In that case we will be one
hundred percent (100 %) confident that our product will be patronized by the people.

To minimize the cost for the stall and location, our team decided to put the
location on one of our member's address and the location of our business will be at
Barangay Opong, Tolosa, Leyte. Not just to minimize the cost but also based on our
survey this location will also attract many customers, because many people in this
area is fond of applying perfumes. And the distant buyer can easily find the said
location.

Name of the Business

Fragrance Essence is a typical and unique business name that we made for the
customers who love perfumes and make them more appealing and attracting to the
people.
2

Date Started and Address of the Business

The business operation started on January 2, 2023 to May 14, 2023.

The business is located at Barangay Opong Tolosa, Leyte. The entrepreneurs

choose this location not just because one of the owners reside in this barangay but
also because the place is located along the road and many vehicles from nearby towns
were passing by giving them the advantage of a greater income.

Figure 1: The Map Location of the Business

Form of Organization

A partnership is a form of business that contains two or more person that binds
themselves to contribute money and manpower to shares in profit and loss of the
business.

Fragrance Essence is a partnership form of business, where the proponents

consist of five and we considered ourselves as partners. The owners do the duties and
responsibilities in the daily operation like the production and selling of perfumes and
we also share the profits generated by our business.
3

Type and Nature of the Business

The proponents consider the business as a merchandising type of business

since we only buy already formulated perfume, we are also the one who refill the
perfume from the amber to the empty bottles and put the stickers of our own brand. It
is an advantage because it reduces cost of deliveries, and it has a higher standard of
safety and quality control. We can make sure that the formula and materials are in
good quality.

The business is all about perfume. One of the advantages of using perfume as
it improves one’s mood or even enhance self – confidence. Perfume can also help you
feel better. Using perfume that reflects your mood might also help your business it

SECTION II
BUSINESS OPENING ACTIVITY

In implementing a business, it is a need to know first what supplies that will be

used in entire operation of the business. Our business is all about perfume and we the
owners decided us to become a sales agent since we have different location. The
pictures below show the supplies that we need. Before the day of opening, we first
buy supplies like notebooks, ballpens, scissors, and calculators.

Figure 3: Office Supplies

10

Last September 5, 2022, we started the operation of our business. First, we

ensure the materials we needed in preparing the perfume to be sold. It includes also
formulated perfume from our supplier since the type of our business is merchandising.
When we go through first in our production where we are the one who refill perfume
from the amber to 85 ml bottles and we put stickers of our own brand. After the
production, the proponents decided to divide it into five since we are five members of
the group and have a different location to be able to easily sell our product to our
valued customers.

BUSINESS IMPLEMENTATION REPORTS

Marketing Activity Report

Since our production of perfume is weekly, we also decided to have weekly

sales to monitor if we are earning or not. The two figures below show the weekly
sales of our business from the month of January to May. The first figure shows the
weekly sales for the month of January, February and March while the second one
shows for the month of April and May.

As we can see at the first graph, the sales for week one to week four which is
the month of January the line is stable because we taught that it is good to have
increase in targeted sales monthly but since we realized that it is better to increase
weekly by ten so you can see at the line that it is increasing because we are following

In starting a business there must be a marketing strategies in order to be

known the products to be sold and to help increase the sales. Creating a Facebook
page and making tarpaulins are the common strategies that we make. Nowadays,
people are more on technologies and most of them uses Facebook so we the owners
decided to make facebook page of our business to them to know our perfume and they
can reach us through the page even though they are far from us. The owners of the
business have different locations we decided to have tarpaulins in each place of the
sales agent. The tarpaulin uses also for the marketing technique ideal for small
business. It has also an advantage for us through of that the customer can easily
contact us when they are purchasing perfume because it indicates cellphone number to
call and text.
13

Figure 7: Marketing Strategies that we use

Production and Operation

14

Before starting to operate a business, the owners always think first the
preparation of the product. The process of preparing product is very important to
secure the quality of the product. Since we only buy an already formulated perfume,
we make sure our supplier is legal and pure of their products. We also make sure that
the product during the production will be handled with care and clean up to the final
outline of the product.

In making a good product, we should follow the step-by-step process. Our

product is all about perfume but instead of
producing a new perfume, the owners
decided to buy an already formulated
perfume for us to have less works and
expenses. After receiving the product, the
assigned owners to refill started their
work. The empty bottles that were refill is
85 ml, using a funnel so that there is no
spill of perfume. The last step in the
production is to put stickers to the bottles for our own brand of perfume.

their selves as a sales agent since all of them are the one who sells the perfume. The

BEST PRACTICES

Fragrance essence has a best practices and strategies to that implemented

during implementation. It includes Marketing, Production and Operation,
Organizational Management Report, Financial Operations, and other initiatives. The
Marketing Manager and Social Media Administrator is assigned for managing
business and be responsible also for the marketing activities it involves posting in
Facebook page in which the customer would see the different scent we offer specially
when the person will follow our page, they can see the new updates of our business
and also each member of the group would also sell in able to hit the target number of
bottles perfume every week and earn also profit. The Production and Operation are all
member are responsible every Sunday in a month. The strategies we made of our
production since sometimes the formulated perfume has no stock, we will look for
initiative’s supplier. The positive experience we made is we can make to sell of our
perfume through the production and operation we do and we gain profit as well.
Organizational Management Report we all have strategies to maintain the good flow
in the business. From the general manager report we all set the goal in our individual
performance to make our business improve. Financial Operations these roles will
engage with a range of individual selling at all levels to ensure that financial processes
run efficiently and that people can easily follow them.

SECTION V
21

CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED

We encountered a lot of challenges during the implementation of our business,

one of the hardest parts is that finding a customer who can buy our products with cash
to cash. Even though we have a friendly price, some buyers cannot afford to pay full
because of lack of income, so we decided to accept the one week to pay for them to
paid, but the one week to pay is still not enough for them because they cannot pay in
the said week, they extend another day, weeks until it become one month. It is hassle
for our group because even our personal money is about to use because every week,
we add the numbers of perfume we buy. It is not easy to handle business because the
owners have a different address and our production area is in Tolosa, you will see in
their eyes that they are crying because they are tired and they have also lost the money
that should be their school allowance, but we need to sacrifice and be strong because
this is all for us for our good future. And also, one of our problems is that we do not
understand each other sometimes. We experience also that the remaining investment
is not enough to buy the total perfume in specific week that we should sell so the
profit that we earned is about to use. As a member owner of Fragrance Essence, I
conclude that a lot of challenges that we faced is one of the causes sometimes for us
to get tired and to give up. Also, our paper is our problem because some of our
members did not make her part not until the deadline of submitting. A lot of
challenges are not about to give up, but also to motivate us to learn and to be strong
just to have a better future. As one of the owners of Fragrance essence We will do our
best to make sure that our business will not turn down because of these challenges.

sells the remaining perfumes. Even though we cannot hit the target sales weekly, we
work hard to hit the target by next week or before the month ends.

SECTION VII
DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The business has the ability to expand, and it is clear that during our first
semester of implementation, it got off to a strong start, and in the second semester, we
were able to have great sales, indicating that the business has a lot of room to develop
and the capacity to grow.

As the business goes through the development strategies, we will focus on

another kind of market by the same product, develop a product for the same kind of
market, and different product for different market. Thus, the business will upgrade the
value of scent and improvement of the product and sell directly to the customer. We
planned to expand our market not only in town of Tolosa, Tanauan, Tabon-Tabon,
and Dagami but also in the entire Leyte through social media. Following this minor
geographic expansion, the business will begin to reach out the customers
24

consciousness and satisfaction which is to provide which is to provide another

innovative product, in line with what the business offered such as, alcohol and fabric
conditioner

By putting this plan into practice, we will be able to improve our management,
our goods and services, and other organizational activities, guaranteeing that we
satisfy the demands of the market and the expectations of our customers. Eventually,
the management will keep working to improve and advance the business throughout
this strategy in order to stand out from the competition and increase sales of our
products in the near future.

Motto: Beauty is useless without knowledge.

I am Michelle G. Arellano, a 4th-year student of the Bachelor of Science in

Entrepreneurship at Eastern Visayas State University Tanauan Campus. As an
entrepreneur student, it is in our curriculum to make a business plan, and after the
approval of the panelists, we will implement it by next school year. We reported many
businesses to our research adviser, and she chose the perfume business for our
business proposal and implementation. This year we are currently implementing our
proposed business, the Fragrance Essence. Just like other businesses, we also
experienced struggles starting ours. The type of our business is merchandising. We
only bought already-formulated perfume from our supplier, and we are the ones who
refill the perfume from the amber to 85-ml bottles and put the stickers on for our own
27

brand. Our production area is at Brgy. Opong Tolosa, Leyte. One of my problems is
traveling to Tolosa every production day because I am from Dagami and I must ride
four times to be there, and I have a thirteenth-month-old baby. But since we are five
in the group, I asked them if I could help during production every other week since
our production is weekly. Before starting the operation of the business last year which
is the 1st semester, our group decided to sell fifty perfumes weekly as a group, so per
head, he or she should sell ten bottles of perfume weekly. This 2 nd semester we started
twelve perfumes each member for four weeks because we taught that increasing the
targeted sales monthly will be good but increasing it weekly by two each member is a
better idea so we did it. Our business is all about perfume. As we all know, perfume
is not in the list in the need or wants of people unlike foods, which is a need of all
people.

As a result of this, from the beginning of our business up until now, the
common challenge that we the members/sellers encountered is that sometimes we
cannot meet our weekly quota of individual. The group come up with a decision that
the numbers of perfumes to be produced and sold should be strictly follow and if it
has remaining perfumes, the other group members can have it to be sold and we
should make a way to cope the number of perfumes we have monthly. The sales
agents think a way or a strategy to sell the product. I myself posted it in my Facebook
account so that my friends will be know that I have perfumes that I sell in an
affordable price. The pandemic taught me to “raketera”, I became an online reseller of
something that people needs so I share our perfumes to other sellers for them to have
income. And lastly, I used my attitude of being talkative so I had to talk and
28

encourage the coworkers of my sisters to buy perfumes. They consume one perfume
weekly so I have them as repeat customers and also, they recommend our product to
others. We are also thankful that our business is about perfume because perfume does
not perish and can be stored. Our perfume becomes more fragrant the longer it lasts.

Motto: The best learning comes from a mistake.

Doing business plan implementation, we experience pressure and at the same

time we learned how to handle a business and make it profitable. As a finance
manager has a responsible for the budget planning, and supports the management
team by offering insights and financial advice that made successful business. During
the first of doing business plan was not easy there are times I feel to quit of studying
but thanks to my parents who pushed me to faced challenges and pursue studying.

Our perfume also experiences lack of stock since it was a merchandising, we

are buying formulated perfume but we have different scent to offer in order to choose
another scent. From doing refilling perfume was also difficult there are some will be
spilled we need make sure there will no waste. Our perfume needs to meet the hit the
target number of bottles every week needs to add another 2 perfumes in weekly, so it's
30

hard for me to sell and find customer but I make way to sold it easy. During selling
sometimes we experience also to have a shortage of customers, there are reason that
they have already perfume and sometimes the most we observe that they did not buy a
perfume the reason is lack of income. Since we offer one week to pay there are some
customers who will not be paid on time. There are so many allegations and reason.

Based on experience some of people the scent of perfume they may smell
sweet but it can make them feel sick. It includes the feeling of having asthma attacks,
dizziness and headache migraine. It was some of threats by having or implementing
our business.

The challenges also of our perfume is that we travel weekly to Brgy. Opong
Tolosa, Leyte. We spent money a little bit expensive especially when we are going
home late. That place also we go there for our production.

But facing different difficulties that mold me to be strong and pursue.

After learning business, I will be wishing to build a business someday since I

started to study all about of business since when I was younger this was one of dream
so I will pursue of building my dreams to become possible because there’s nothing
impossible. The experience I learned during implementation will be apply if I will be
handling a business someday. I been realized that having business will be think to
become positive because through of that mindset the outcome will be a good result. It
31

will be risky but through of your effort and your dedication the business will be grow
and expand by the right time.

I myself feel grateful for the experience we learned from making business plan
up to the end of Implementing business plan we learn more experience about running
business and be strong to the challenges we encountered in operating also a business.

Targeting the right customers, creating compelling, contextual messaging, and

seeking engagement are all iterative processes.

*Prospecting demands a higher level of engagement. Customers need to see

value in every exchange with the seller. Delivering the perfume means speaking to the
specifics of the customers. Example, we can explore the customers social footprint to
stay current. This up-to-date information enables us to determine what insights will be
33

most relevant to the customer. By offering highly relevant product is offering

something if value which in time may compel the customer.

*Need to become micro sellers. We need to determine which customer can

benefit most from the product.

*Communication must be customized. Customers can and will disengage

quickly and easily if don't

perceive the product or immediately feel that there is a reason to speak with
the sales professional.

*Sellers need a repeatable process. We must build consensus among digital

first customers by delivering them a solution to their social needs.

*Changing economic environment has made it difficult. We face the challenge

of maintaining profitability as costs rise due in part to supply chain problems.

Motto: Poverty is not a hindrance to success

As the marketing manager of our team in business implementation, I oversee

managing promotion and positioning of a brand or the product that the business sells.
As the marketing manager I’m looking for an imaginative showcasing to advance our
company’s brand and services. During the implementation of our business, we have
been through such difficult times that we need to be stronger and more patient.
However, it was also during the implementation of our fragrance essence, that
somehow, I did enjoy, especially in making the packaging, cleaning the perfume
bottle, also refilling the perfume. Yes, it was hard at the same time making those
packaging, cleaning the bottle of perfume and refilling the perfume. We experienced
also a different kind of struggles that would haunt sometimes our minds if we can do
it or, if we can still finish the implementation process in amidst those struggles, we
became stronger by facing a lot of problems and it motivate us to do our best for the
35

sake of our business. Through this I learned to be authentic and wise of making
decision and also have a determination in starting business. It was tiring and stressful
and at the same time happy because allot of our stressful day, I saw the best result of
our business which is we success and past a lot of circumstances in business
implementation. Facing problem is not to become you weak, but to make you strong
person I’m very thankful that I experience and able to overcome all of it. if I will be
going stand and handle my own business in a near future it is not hard for me because
I learned a lot of this implementation and I will not be new to encounter this different
struggle because I went through it during the implementation phase, and I am also
thankful to be part of this.

I am Rubie N. Tolibas a 4th year Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship

student at Eastern Visayas State University-Tanuan Campus and we are currently
implementing our proposed business which is Fragrance Essence. During Our first
implementation it has very challengeable but a kind of experience learning. At first,
we experience different challenges right from the start of the operation. One of this
struggles we face is in packaging, cleaning the perfume bottle, putting sticker of own
brand, and refilling the perfume from the amber into an empty bottle. But this time
it’s hard for us because we need to ensure that we have not waste to refill it. Being
patient, all the time is also a must help you reach your target income and to make
good sells gain more profit. Every member has their own duties to sell our product
Also I know that customers have different attitudes, so we need to know their
37

suggestion and needs. As a team each one of us have our own duties and
responsibilities. I am assigning a Social Media Administrator that coordinates, create
and place content for the business social media platforms like Facebook and
Instagram and work also with marketing and sales teams about content development,
topics, and opportunities. It has never been easy for us especially for me. But on
behalf of these struggles, this implementation brings us closer and builds teamwork to
get through with it together and we gain as much as we expect from our business. I
have also learned in this business implementation is to trust and teamwork and be a
responsible to overcome the struggles, think a good decision before you take any
action to make your business profitable. Handling a business has never been easy but
this business has led me to run a business professionally to make a good plan in order
to success our business.
