What is your theme?

My theme is ‘Summer Fun’. I wanted a fashion line to bring in bright colors of summer, with
some youthful accents that make you feel like a kid again!

Color Scheme
How does this tie into your theme?
This dress is supposed to reflect a
summer sunset and bring in a fun
texture.
Design details (at least 2):
This design features a fun sweetheart
neckline to pair well with the A-Line
dress.
What is unique?
I think the tiered colors in descending
darkness is the most unique feature of
this design.
What is the color scheme and what
colors are used to create it?
I used an Analogous color scheme with
orange, red-orange, red, and red-violet.
Describe the fabric.
This is a polyester orange fabric. I chose
it because it’s light and not hot. It will
drape nicely and has a fun silky feel and
look.
Why is this fabric appropriate for your
design?
I think it’s appropriate because I wanted
it to be a light flowy, fun dress to wear in
the summer and this fabric will make
sure it can have a nice flow while not
being too heavy and hot for the wearer.

Structural Lines
How does this tie into your theme?
This pairing is supposed to be a durable
fun summer fashion and the blue and
green is supposed to be soothing colors

The jean dress and some structural likes
at the natural waist, the t-shirt has a
raised neckline and short sleeves.
What is unique?
I added some fun lines, on top of the
structural lines, to add some fun interest
on the top of the dress.
Which lines are predominant and what
effect does that have on the garment?
The main line with buttons down the
front is most predominant. This gives the
dress a symmetrical look and makes it
pleasing to the eye.
Insert digital fabric swatch below.
Describe the fabric.
I picked a dark wash denim for this dress.
It has a twill weave. It makes it durable
and firm, it won’t fly up with the wind,
and masks stains well.
Why is this fabric appropriate for your
design?
This fabric is appropriate because I
wanted a dress that was cute and
functional. You can wear this to a picnic
or a summer walk and not fear you’ll
flash someone or worry about getting
grass stains on it.

Asymmetrical Balance
A Crème cardigan that is tired by bow for a
coverup on a chemise dress.
How does this tie into your theme?
I added bows to the cardigan to add a youthful
splash. It’s supposed to bring in that youthful
fun while being paired with a lightweight,
classy dress.

This cardigan type sweater I designed has a
“V” neckline and is paired over a chemise
dress.
What is unique?
The bows on the asymmetrical line is unique.
It’s supposed to be made in a way you can tie
all the bows and have a blocked look or tie
one or two bows and have a more open look
showing more of the clothes underneath.
How asymmetrical balance achieved in the
garment?
Asymmetrical balance is achieved through the
cardigan. Instead of buttoning or tying straight
down the front, it connects on a diagonal,
splitting the clothing piece, but not in equal
parts.
Insert digital fabric swatch below.
Describe the fabric.
I chose a knit fabric made from cotton for the
top. It’s lightweight enough it can be work in
summer while giving that soft delicate texture.
Why is this fabric appropriate for your
design?
This is appropriate for my design because I
wanted to create a summer sweater. The knit
cotton will breathe well while also giving the
typical sweater appeal.

shape is unique in this design. Pairing the
solid green with the fun colors of the
“tulip” is supposed to be the stem and
the flower head.

dress, the colors and shape help make it
the focal point. The shape also helps
