YES-O Accomplishment Report for S.Y.2022-2023

Mandate 1 : Seedbank/Nursery Establishment

Since the school has already built the seedbank, the YES-O helped in taking care of the seeds
and seedlings coming from native, endemic or indigenous species of trees, including fruit trees
which shall be collected and used for the tree planting during the Science month celebration.

Mandate 2: Planting, growing, and caring for trees

The YES-O officers are pleased to present an accomplishment report on their efforts to promote
tree planting, growing, and caring within the school premises and the community. Their goal was to
create awareness among students and encourage them to actively participate in environmental
conservation. The following activities were conducted during the reporting period:
1. Tree Planting Activity:
On November 22,2022, we organized a tree planting activity within the school premises. A total
of 20 fruit bearing lansones trees and 5 calamansi seedlings trees were planted by [15 ] student
volunteers and 5 school utilities . The chosen tree species were carefully selected to suit the local
climate and promote biodiversity. We ensured that each tree was properly planted and given adequate
space to grow.

2. Tree Care and Maintenance:

and growth of the newly planted trees, we established a tree care and maintenance program.
This involved regular watering, mulching, and pruning of the trees. We formed a dedicated team of
student volunteers who took the responsibility of caring for the trees. They were given proper training
on tree care techniques and were supervised by our team of YES-O officers.

3. 3. Information Dissemination:

To raise awareness among the students and promote the importance of tree planting, we
encouraged Science teachers to included the importance of tree planting and caring of the environment
to their science classes and conducted various information dissemination activities. These included
poster campaigns, classroom presentations, and workshops on the benefits of trees and the role they
play in mitigating climate change and outputs presented during portfolio day.

Mandate 3: Mandate 3: Awareness campaigns & Symposia

The Youth for environment in Schools organization officers (YES-O) were determined to make a
difference in their community. They believed that by organizing a Basura Run, they could raise
awareness about the importance of proper waste management and encourage stakeholders to actively
participate in keeping their barangays clean.

The YES-O officers started by reaching out to various stakeholders, including local government
officials, community leaders, and residents. They explained their plan and the benefits of organizing a
Basura Run. The stakeholders were impressed by the enthusiasm and passion of the YES-O officers
and agreed to support their initiative. Together, they set a date for the Basura Run dated December
10,2022 Saturday at 5:30 am detailes were found in the communication letter and assigned focal
persons and began spreading the word throughout the barangays. Communications were distributed to
the identified Barangays , announcements were made, and posters were put up in public places to
ensure maximum participation.
On the day of the Basura Run, the YES-O officers and stakeholders gathered at the designated
meeting point. They were joined by students, teachers, parents, and volunteers from different
barangays, all eager to contribute to the cleanliness of their community. Before starting the run, the
YES-O officers conducted a short briefing, emphasizing the importance of waste segregation and
proper disposal. They explained the different types of waste and how to dispose of them correctly. They
also provided participants with gloves, garbage bags, and other necessary materials.
With everyone equipped and ready, the Basura Run began. The participants split into groups, each
assigned to a specific area within the barangays. They walked along the streets, parks, and public
spaces, picking up litter and placing it in the appropriate garbage bags.
As they went from one area to another, the YES-O officers and stakeholders engaged with the
residents, explaining the harmful effects of improper waste disposal and the benefits of recycling and
composting. They encouraged the community to adopt sustainable practices and reduce waste
generation.

Throughout the Basura Run, the participants collected a significant amount of garbage. The YES-O
officers and stakeholders were amazed at the impact they were making in just a few hours. The
barangays were visibly cleaner, and the residents expressed their gratitude for the initiative.

Mandate 4: Waste Management Program

The YES-O established waste bins at every strategic corners of the school divided into
four namely; biodegradable, non-biodegradable,recyclable and Infectious waste. This is strictly
imposed because the school is strictly monitored by the MENRO Calbiga in the implementation
of Republic act 9003 and there were 3 times scheduled of collection of garbage track from the
school and it is MWF every 8:00 o clock in the morning.

The YES- O and BKD officers were always active in maintening the cleanliness of the
school premises especially during the events of Division Festival of Talents (DFOT ) and
Regional Festival of Talents hosted by Calbiga National High School held on June 11-13,2023 at
the school premises.
