1952)
 He got elected member of Rajya Sabha 2 times.
 He lost the assembly elections while being the
chief minister.
 Third Chief Minister to be nominated by the
Centre.
 First assembly elections under his leadership.
 Before becoming the Chief Minister, he was not
a minister in any Council of Ministers.
 A commemorative postage stamp was issued in

during the Rajasthan Union.

 In the Jai Narayan Vyas government, he was a

1967 1971  Jai Narayan Vyas opposed the inclusion of
'Ram Rajya Parishad' in the Congress. After
which Mohan Lal Sukhadia defeated Jai
Narayan Vyas by 8 votes in the vote of
confidence and became the Chief Minister of
Rajasthan.
 The Rajasthan Zamindari and Biswedari
Abolition Act-1959 was passed during his time.
 He was also the Governor of Tamil Nadu,
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka.
 He is also known as the "Maker of Modern
Rajasthan".
 Became Chief Minister at the age of 38 which is
the record of becoming the Chief Minister at
the youngest age.

 In 1962, the divisional system started from 1949
was discontinued.
 He was the leader who faced the maximum
number of assemblies while being the Chief
Minister.
 There was an allegation of gold contamination
in the Nathdwara temple, during this there was
an inter-caste dispute and the Nathdwara
market remained closed.
 He was an excellent cricket player.
 Indira Gandhi Canal was commissioned.
 After independence, the first contest for the
post of leader of the ruling party's legislative
party in a state took place in Rajasthan on 06
November, 1954 in which Mohan Lal Sukhadia
defeated the then Chief Minister Mr. Jai
Narayan Vyas.
7. Sh. 09-07- 11-10-  Jodhpur resident Barkatullah Khan died of a
Barkatullah 1971 1973 heart attack on 11 October 1973 in his office.
Khan  He was the Chief Minister during the Indo-Pak
war of 1971.
8. Sh. Hari Dev 11-10- 29-04-  8 consecutive times MLA from Banswara.
Joshi 1973 1977  He was the Governor of Assam, Meghalaya
and West Bengal.
 Journalism University in Jaipur is named after
him.
 The only MLA in the entire country who won
the first ten assembly elections continuously.
 He was the Chief Minister of the state at the
time of Emergency in the country.
 He was Chief Minister three times but could
never complete the term.

 For the first time he became the Chief Minister
from the Janata Party, for the second time he
became the Chief Minister from the Bharatiya
Janata Party.
 He worked as Inspector in Rajasthan Police.
 He was MLA for ten times.
 For the first time during his tenure, the
assembly was dissolved prematurely.
 For the first time mid-term elections were held
in the state.
 When he became Chief Minister for the first
time, he was a Rajya Sabha member, then
contested from Chhabra.
 First non-Congress Chief Minister of the state.
 Awarded with Padma Vibhushan.
10. Sh. Jagannath 06-06- 13-07-  He was the governor of Haryana and Bihar.
Pahadia 1980 1981  He was a member of Lok Sabha 4 times and
was also a member of Rajya Sabha.
 First Dalit Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
 Elected as MP for the first time at the age of 25
years and three months. Became the youngest
MP in the second Lok Sabha.
 His wife Smt. Shanti Pahadia was also a

 He was the chairman of the Rajasthan
Administrative Reforms Commission.
 The Mathur government had to resign after the
death of Sh. Man Singh, an independent
candidate from Deeg assembly, due to police
firing during the assembly elections.
 He was the son-in-law of freedom fighter
Manikya Lal Verma of Udaipur.

Assembly.
 He was also the chairman of the State Finance

and Administrative Reforms, Atomic Energy in

(Barkutalla Khan, Hari Dev Joshi) and the Eighth Assembly (Hari Dev Joshi, Shiv Charan
Mathur) there were two chief ministers.

the 7th Legislative Assembly.
 From 1990 or the 9th assembly, there was only one chief minister in all the assemblies.

Women's representation in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly:-


 The first general election was held in 1952, in which four women participated, all four lost
the election.
 By-elections were held in the period of first assembly elections 1952-57 in which Yashoda
Devi was elected from Banswara (General) constituency in 1953 and reached the assembly.
She got elected from the Praja Socialist Party.
 The second woman in the by-election to the first assembly was Smt. Kamla Beniwal, who
was elected MLA in 1954.
 Maximum number of women participated in the 2018 elections.
 The maximum number of women MLAs were in 2008 (28) and 2013 (28).
