A Park N’ Ride is a transportation concept where people drive to a designated parking lot
near public transportation hubs, like train stations or bus stops, and then continue their journey
using public transit. This reduces traffic congestion and parking issues in busy areas while
encouraging the use of eco-friendly transportation options.
The Lawton Park and Ride in Ermita, Manila, originally intended as a Park and Ride
facility, has been repurposed into a transportation terminal by the City of Manila government.
After a period of abandonment and a change in management due to unpaid rent by its previous
tenant, it now operates as a terminal primarily catering to passengers traveling between Manila
and the southern parts of Metro Manila. It serves as a crucial interchange point for various
modes of public transportation, facilitating smooth transfers and movement within these areas.
The surrounding environment of Park N' Ride in Ermita, Manila, is a bustling urban area
with high population density and heavy traffic congestion. It is characterized by residential,
commercial, and institutional establishments. The site is near landmarks such as Rizal Park,
Intramuros, Arroceros forest Park, Mehan Garden Manila, The Metropolitan Theater Manila, and
Unibersidad de Manila. These landmarks contribute to the cultural and historical significance of
the area, attracting locals and tourists alike.
