Lesson Plan - Maam Dulce

The lesson plan aims to teach students about measures of central tendency, specifically the mean, of ungrouped and grouped data. It includes objectives, content, materials, and procedures such as motivation activities, lessons, practice problems, and an assessment. Students will learn to calculate the mean of ungrouped and grouped data sets through examples and practice problems. They will be assessed through a quiz involving calculating the mean of given ungrouped and grouped data sets.

A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

December __, 2023

Student: Joel F. Rebato Jr. Instructor: Dulce E. Catindoy

I. Objective
A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and importance of
statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation,
measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.

B. Performance Standard
The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute
accurately measures of central tendency and variability and apply these
appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.

C. Learning Competencies
The learner illustrates the measures of central tendency (mean) of a statistical
data. And calculates the measures of central tendency of ungrouped and grouped
data.

D. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are able to illustrates the measures of central
tendency (mean) of a statistical data. And calculates the measures of central
tendency of ungrouped and grouped data.

II. Content and Materials

A. Content: Measure of Central Tendency (Mean, Grouped and Ungroup data)
B. Reference:
C. Materials: PowerPoint, White board, Petelpen

III. Procedure
➢ Routinary Activities
➢ Greetings
Good morning class!
➢ Prayer
Everybody, please stand and let us pray.
➢ Attendance
Class let’s have an attendance first, say present if your name is called.
➢ Preliminary Activities
➢ Motivation
Short Exercises;

2. _ _ _ 4. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

➢ Developmental Activities
A. Activity
Group Activity; “Mean Calculation Race”
Direction: Given the set of ungrouped data calculate the mean as quickly as possible, using
trial and error. The first group to correctly calculate the mean and raise their hand wins the
round.
1. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
2. 3, 5, 8, 7, 11
3. 4, 4, 9, 6, 9
4. 3, 1, 12, 10, 5
5. 8, 9, 8, 9, 15
B. Analysis
What is mean?
- Mean in both ungrouped and grouped data is a measure of central tendency that
represents the average value of a set of data. However, the calculation process differs
depending on whether the data is ungrouped or grouped.
Formula in solving the mean in Ungrouped data:

Formula in Solving the Mean in Grouped Data:

C. Abstraction

What is mean?
How to compute mean in Ungrouped data?
How to solve mean in group data?
D. Application
Try this!
➢ Juan grades in math are 89, 88, 90, 87, 92, 90, 89, and 88. Find the mean.

IV. Assessment Or Evaluation

Quiz!
Direction: Solve the following problems. Find the mean of the ungrouped and grouped
data. Get 1 whole Sheet of paper.
1. Find the mean of this ungrouped data.

2. Find the mean of this grouped data.

V. Assignment

Direction: Solve the following problems.

1. Mark operates Technology Titans, a Web site service that employs 8 people. Find
the mean age of his workers if the ages of the employees are as follows: 55, 63, 34,
59, 29, 46, 51, 41.
2. Stephen has been working on programming and updating a Web site for his
company for the past 15 months. The following numbers represent the number of
hours Stephen has worked on this web site for each of the past 7 months:
24, 25, 31, 50, 53, 66, 78
What is the mean (average) number of hours that Stephen worked on this web site
each month?
