INTRODUCTION

Social anxiety is defined as a “cognitive

and affective experience triggered by the
perception of possible evaluation by
other”(Social anxiety 2010)in social
situations. It is also called as social
phobia.
NEED FOR THE RESEARCH
The pandemic has indeed made a great impact on
the life’s of students. In the year 2020 the covid-19
pandemic caused disruption to everyday life around
the world. Schools and colleges were temporarily
closed to avoid any social gatherings or meetings.
Due to the pandemic and the provided situations the
schools and colleges were online. The lack of
interaction, social gathering for last two years might
have increased the social anxiety among the
students.
Hence an attempt was made by the researchers for
assessing social anxiety among college students.
