MUNICIPAL SPORTS AND CULTURAL MEET 2023
Volleyball Tournament Girls: Elementary and Secondary Division

On December 1, 2023, the Barangay 7 Covered Court in Tuburan, Cebu,


radiated with the warm glow of the morning sun, becoming the vibrant backdrop for
the eagerly anticipated Municipal Sports and Cultural Meet 2023. Spearheaded by
Tournament Manager Allen John C. Tibay and Assistant Tournament Manager
Geronimo Flores, the event promised a day brimming with exciting displays of
sportsmanship and cultural festivities. The focal point of the day was the Volleyball
Competition Girls Division, featuring the impressive talents of both elementary and
secondary school teams. The air was charged with anticipation and enthusiasm as
the games unfolded, creating an atmosphere that set the stage for unforgettable
moments of skill and camaraderie.
The game mechanics were straightforward but ensured a fair and challenging
competition. The teams engaged in a battle of skill and strategy across five sets. The
first team to secure three sets claimed victory, with the sets progressing to 25 points
in the 1st to 4th rounds and a brisk 15 points in the decisive 5th set.
The morning sun witnessed the clash of volleyball titans in the Secondary
Girls category at 10 o'clock. Tuburan 1, representing Tuburan National High School
(TNHS), faced off against Tuburan 2, proudly representing Vicente Cabahug National
High School (VCNHS). The court was abuzz with anticipation, with Allen John C.
Tibay and Ian Rey M. Saavedra taking charge as the First and Second Referees,
respectively.
In a display of prowess and teamwork, Tuburan National High School
emerged victorious, securing three sets against Vicente Cabahug National High
School's valiant efforts to claim victory. The cheers of the supporters echoed,
marking the first triumph of the day.
As the sun dipped low in the afternoon sky, the spotlight shifted to the young
talents in the Elementary Girls category at 3 o'clock. Tuburan 1, represented by
Bagasawe Elementary School, faced off against Tuburan 2, represented by Fortaliza
Elementary School. The crowd, a mix of parents, teachers, and enthusiastic
onlookers, eagerly anticipated another thrilling match.
Under the watchful eyes of referees Ian Rey M. Saavedra and Allen John C.
Tibay, the teams engaged in a gripping 5-set game. Bagasawe Elementary School
emerged triumphant, claiming victory in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th sets, while Fortaliza
Elementary School showcased resilience, clinching the 1st and 4th sets.
The court resonated with the cheers and applause of the spectators,
acknowledging the young athletes' dedication and spirited performance.
As the day concluded, the anticipation shifted to the grand finale – the
Awarding of Winners scheduled for December 2, 2023, at 10:30 in the morning. The
Barangay 7 Covered Court, the witness to the day's battles, would transform into a
stage of recognition and celebration.
The Municipal Sports and Cultural Meet 2023 proved to be a tapestry of
talent, teamwork, and tenacity. As the sun set on this remarkable day, heartfelt
gratitude extends to the facilitators, officiating officials, and everyone involved for
their invaluable contributions to the success of this memorable event. Their
dedication and hard work paved the way for a community united through the spirit of
sportsmanship and camaraderie, allowing Tuburan, Cebu, to collectively bask in the
glory of a day filled with shared triumphs and lasting memories.
