Math Lesson Plan for Educators

The document is a detailed lesson plan for teaching mathematics to students. It outlines objectives, subject matter, procedures, and activities for teaching about sequences of continuous patterns. The lesson plan uses examples like flags, squares and circles, weaved blankets, stacked bricks, and target darts to demonstrate repeating patterns. Students are engaged through discussion, drawing patterns, and coming up with their own examples. The overall goal is for students to understand what a sequence of continuous pattern is and be able to identify, describe, and draw examples of repeating patterns.

A. Preparation
● Greetings
Good day class! How was your day so far?
Good day, Teacher Ally! We are fine.
That’s good to hear!

● Prayer
Before we begin our lesson for today, let us
all stand up to ask the guidance of our
Almighty God. Can you please lead the
prayer Janine?
Yes, Teacher. In the name of the Father, the
son and the holy spirit. Father God, we praise
you and thank you for today. May you guide
us for today and may you open our hearts
and minds to understand the lesson. In Jesus
name we pray, Amen.
Thank you Janine for leading the prayer for
today. Before you sit, please arrange your
chairs and pick up the pieces of dirt
underneath.
(The students will arrange their chairs and will
pick up the pieces of dirt under their chairs)
● Checking of the Attendance
Please settle down because I will be checking
the attendance. Is everyone here?
No one is absent, teacher.
I am glad that all of you are present here
today. So, are you ready for our discussion?
Yes, teacher!
● Apperception

To continue, Do you still remember the lesson

that we have discussed the last time? Please
raise your hand
(Jossie raised her hand)
Yes, Jossie? Can you please tell us what we
have discussed?
Last time, we have discussed about
determining missing terms in a sequence of
number.
That’s correct. What are the steps to
determine the missing term in a number
sequence? Yes, Mylene?
Step 1: Find the common difference of each
pair of consecutive terms in the sequence by
subtracting each term from the term that
comes directly after it. Step 2: Add the
common difference to the number prior to the
first missing number in the sequence. Step 3:
Repeat Step 2 for any other missing
numbers.
That’s right. I’m happy that you’ve still
remembered our previous topic.

● Motivation

Let’s have our activity.. I invite everyone to

please stand up. I will play a video and I
expect all of you to sing along.
(The teacher will play the video)
(The students will stand up and sing along to
the video presented in front)
You can now sit down. Class, what can you
say about our activity?
It was fun, teacher!
Basing on the video, it is about? Yes, Ruzel?
Teacher, It is about Patterns.
That’s correct! I’m glad that you had fun
singing the song. Let’s all clap our hands.
(All of the students will clap their hands)

● Statement of the aim

Do you know what is this?
(In chorus)Yes, Teacher.
Can you tell me what color of pattern is there
in a chess board, Christine?
It has black and white pattern.
Excellent! A chess board has a black and
white pattern. Why do you think a chessboard
has a black and white square pattern?
(Priela raised her hand)
Yes, Priela?
Chess boards has a black and white square
patterns because if everything was black you
could not see the squares. In playing chess,
the contrast of the color is important so that
you can tell the squares apart.
Very good!. That is right.

B. Presentation
In relation with what I have shown you, our
lesson for today is about the Sequence of
continuous pattern. Are you familiar with this
class?
Yes, Teacher!
That’s great!. Now I will show you some
pictures of pattern.

C. Comparison and Abstraction

When we say a sequence of continuous
patterns, It is a sequence of repeating
objects, shapes andnumbers or an
arrangement that follows a certain order.

Look at the pictures that I have posted on the

board.
What is this?
(Mikka raised her hand)
Yes, Mikka?
It is a garland flags
That’s right. What is the color pattern of the
flags?
(Jimmy raised his hand)
Please tell me the color pattern, Jimmy.
Blue, pink, blue, pink, blue.
If I’m going to put one more color of a flag,
what color should I put next?
(In chorus) Pink
That’s correct!. Using the colored chalk,
please arrange and draw to complete the
pattern, Vienna.
(Vienna will draw the pattern)

Very good. Now let’s have another image.

What is the pattern of this image? Yes, Ava?

Green square, blue circle, green square, blue
circle, green square, blue circle.
Correct!. What should be the next shape and
color? Please tell me, Jeffrey.
Green square.
That’s correct!. Please come here in front
Maris to arrange and draw the pattern to
complete them.
(Maris will draw the pattern)

Thank you for participating. Now, think of an

object that you can see inside or outside of
our place that has a pattern. Please raise
your hand.
(Vince raised his hand)
Give me an example, Vince.
An object that has a pattern is a weaved
blanket or banig.
Brilliant! A weaved blanket or banig has a
pattern. Using a colored chalk, please draw it
on the board, Krystel.
(Possible outcome of the drawing of Krystel)

That looks Good Krystel. What else? Yes,

Alyssa?

Another example is a stacked bricks

That’s right. Can you draw it on the board?
Yes teacher. (Possible outcome of the
drawing of Alyssa)

Amazing drawing!.

D. Generalization
All of your examples and pictures that I have
showed you are example of a sequence of a
continuous pattern. In math, if we say it is a
sequence of repeating objects, shapes or
numbers, it is a?
Sequence of continuous Pattern
That’s correct!. In your own words, define
sequence of continuous pattern. Yes, Mikee?
A sequence of continuous pattern is a
sequence of repeating objects, shapes
andnumbers or An arrangement that follows a
certain order.
That’s correct. Diane, give me an example of
an object that has a pattern?
An example of an object that has a pattern is
a red and white target dart.
That’s correct! Using the colored chalk.
Please draw a red and white target dart on
the board, Mia.
(Mia will draw a target dart on the board)
Very good Mia. Do you understand now the
sequence of a continuous pattern?
Yes, teacher.
Let’s proceed to our activity.

E. Application
Our activity for today will be as an individual. I
called our activity, “Paper necklace pattern”.

All you have to do is to draw and color the

remaining pattern in a short bond paper to
complete what is stated in the problem. Then,
using your scissors, cut out what you have
draw. Next, you will cut out a long thin strip of
bond paper that will serve as the yarn of the
paper necklace. After that, you have to paste
the remaining pattern to finish the paper
necklace.

Anna is making a necklace with a heart

shaped beads with a color of green, fuschia,
pink and violet but Anna still need to put 10
beads remaining. Help anna to complete the
sequence of the necklace starting from the
fuschia heart bead.

This will be the rubrics of the activity:

Correctness - 10 points
Creativity- 5 points
Execution- 5 points
In total of 20 points.

Is it clear?
Yes, Teacher.
I will give you 15 minutes to finish this activity.
You may start now.
IV. Evaluation
Circle the picture that comes next in each picture pattern.
