Orchestra

An orchestra is a large group of musicians who play a variety of instruments together, usually classical music. Orchestras developed out of smaller ensembles in the Baroque era and grew larger in the Classical and Romantic eras. The main sections of an orchestra are strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Strings include violins, violas, cellos, double basses, and harps. Woodwinds include flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons and others. Brass includes trumpets, French horns, trombones and tubas. Percussion includes instruments like timpani, snare drums, and cymbals.
