Learning Styles Inventory


Active/Reflective
 Active learners learn best by experiencing knowledge through their own actions.
 Reflective learners understand information best when they have had time to reflect on it on their
own.

Factual/Theoretical
 Factual learners learn best through specific facts, data and detailed experimentation.
 Theoretical learners are more comfortable with big-picture ideas, symbols, and new concepts.

Visual/Verbal
 Visual learners remember best what they see: diagrams, flowcharts, timelines, films and
demonstrations.
 Verbal learners gain the most learning from reading, hearing spoken words, participating in
discussion, and explaining things to others.

Linear/Holistic
 Linear learners find it easiest to learn material presented step by step in a logical, ordered
progression.
 Holistic learners progress in fits and starts, perhaps feeling lost for a while, but eventually seeing
the big picture in a clear and creative way.
