I. INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
K-Pop is a general term for South Korean music with deep traditional roots;

it is not a “genre”. The ‘Korean wave’ phenomenon, which occurred from the 1990s

to the mid-2000s, saw the spread of Korean music and television advertising across

Asia and to the rest of the world, and was accountable for the sudden rise in K-pop

music popularity. It is a broad expression that includes a variety of musical genres

and elements and is still quite recent in terms of musical history. Korean pop

involves more than the music, their fashion and dances are also well-known and

very popular.

KPOP, or Korean popular culture, has affected Filipinos, particularly the

younger generations. Modern Korean culture includes their customs, music,

dramas, cuisine, and fashion. It significantly impacts many nations, particularly in

terms of music and fashion trends.

Being a K-pop fan has many impacts in someone's life. Many said that K-pop

music saved them, especially in the worst time of their lives. Listening to this kind of

music can heal their souls, boosts their confidence through different dances, and

increases their social attitude, especially in communicating with other people.

K-pop is also a way to build new friendships because of the group of fans called

fandom.

The researchers would like to know what age group is the most influenced by

KPOP in Ilocos Norte so that they are able to make a suggestion and

recommendations as to what is the best way to limit themselves as KPOP Fans and
at the same time, give advice to people to give more importance in Philippines

culture.

Statement of the Problem

The researchers used the quantitative data, specifically the positioning of

data. Positioning of grouped data will be used in the interpretation of this study.

Meanwhile, the researchers gathered the following data of the age of KPOP Fans in

Ilocos Norte from a survey which was done last June 8, 2023.
