is all about Use of Hand tool and equipment (Yes Sir.)
in Housekeeping under Home Economics.
Our learning Objective are, (Prayer)

C. Lesson Proper

First thing to do is we must know our
objective after we that we need to achieve in
this session, first is, we must know the
different cleaning tool that regularly used in
cleaning activity, and second also, we must
know how to manage to maintain this said
tools earlier.
Housekeeping is not just cleanliness. It
includes keeping work areas neat and orderly,
maintaining halls and floors free of slip and
trip hazards, and removing of waste materials
and other hazards from work areas.
There are two different types of
Housekeeping,
First is the maintenance of housekeeping in
hotels, resorts, inns and apartelle is called
Institutional Housekeeping.
The second one is the Maintenance in a house
is called Domestic Housekeeping. Bedrooms,
kitchen, dining, receiving area, grounds, and
the surrounding areas are covered
We must know the basic tools and equipment
that we rarely used while cleaning, especially
the supplies and materials that we need to our
tools to do a housekeeping.
Let us discuss first the Basic Tools and
Equipment.
A broom is a sweeping tool consisting of a
bundle of straws or twigs tied to a long handle.
A dustpan is a type of cleaning tool that is
commonly used to scoop dirt and waste from
the floor.
A vacuum cleaner is a system that uses an air
pump to produce a partial vacuum in order to
sweep up dust and debris, usually from floors
but often from other surfaces. A dust bag or a
cyclone collects the soil for subsequent
disposal.
Water Hose are used to carry fluids through
fluid environments, and they are typically
used with clamps.
Bucket is used to hold water or any liquid
solution used in cleaning.
Cobwebbers are used to reach and sweep the
floor without the use of a brush. It is also used
in stairwells, corners of ceilings, and other
high areas.
Sponge is used to trap water and soften when
wet while maintaining its toughness: it is used
in bathing, brushing, or cleaning surfaces.
Dishcloth is used in the kitchen to dry dishes
and other surfaces. Typically they are made of
cotton or other cloth, such as microfiber.
A Floor buffer or Floor Polisher is an
electrical appliance that is used to clean and
maintain non-carpeted floors, such as
hardwood, marble or tiles.

the tools and equipment that is rarely used in
housekeeping, can you get it class?

Cleaning detergent or Powder detergents is a
surfactant or a mixture of surfactants with
"cleaning properties in diluted solutions that is
also used in cleaning purposes. (Can’t dissolve

Liquid Detergent is a detergent in liquid form
used for cleaning tools and equipment. Liquid
detergents work great with water
Scrubbing Foam is used to remove the
contaminants of any tool and equipment.
Paper towel is an absorbent textile made from
paper instead of cloth used in drying hands,
wiping windows, dusting and cleaning up
spills.
A waste container is a container for
temporarily storing refuse and waste.
A glove is a garment that covers the whole
hand of a person that performs household
services.

needed when conducting a Cleaning session or
housekeeping.

General Rules in the Use of Cleaning
Equipment
1. Check electrical appliances and
equipment before use. Check if there
are frayed wires, loose plugs ad
connections. Never use any appliance
that is defective.
2. Handle equipment with care and make
sure it does not bump on hard surfaces.
3. Clean and store equipment in their
custodial room immediately after use.
4. Empty dust bags of dry vacuum
cleaners before they overload and after
each use.
5. Follow manufacturer’s operating
instruction.
6. Schedule a regular check-up of
equipment to prevent serious
breakdown.
7. To avoid electric shock or short circuit,
do not expose equipment to rain or
water. Store them indoors to protect
them from getting wet. Electrical
equipment should never be used in wet
surfaces.
IV. Generalization
Hand tools are very essential for day to day
jobs. They have been used by humans since
ancient times to complete various useful tasks.
Hand tools are of different types and can be
used for any kind of work. Some tools are
versatile and some of them are specifically
used for a specific job. Useful quality tools
can be a significant investment, but they will
last longer and return the favor if you take
good care of them. Making sure your devices
are properly stored, cleaned, and well
maintained will save you time and money, as
well as making your projects and jobs much
more comfortable
