COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS PAPER

Instructions: Search online for media outlets that use two or more modes of
communication with their customers. Examples are a news program on TV and a
radio broadcast over the AM frequency. Do a comparative analysis of the types of
outlets the communication network current uses in terms of content, audience reach

Comparative Analysis

According to my research, there are three types of media outlets: print media,
newspapers of record, and broadcast media. Each media outlet has a different
approach in informing its customers of their media coverage. As we all know, print
media refers to the old media forms, such as magazines, newspapers, journals,
newsletters, brochures, infographics, pamphlets, and other printed materials that are not
disseminated through online platforms. It is simple to identify the printed media outlets;
as long as they are printed for the media, they can be considered printed media outlets.
Since not everyone has access to television, print media have historically been utilized
to disseminate information to a global audience. Some people purchase various media
channels to keep themselves informed and entertained. Any printed document used to
inform and persuade clients is considered print media.
In terms of content, the newspapers of record and printed outlets are similar in
some parts but with different approaches. The difference between a newspaper of
record and the printed media is that the information is too old. It is easy to differentiate
between the two because most of the printed media are up-to-date and, once they are
old, they can be considered as a newspaper of record. It doesn't mean it is old, it can be
automatically considered a newspaper of record, but only for those news or events that
have a big influence on society or create a huge impact on the situation of society, such
as news about the great depression stock market during the 1930s. Pictures are
included in magazines and other print media because visual communication is a key
component of printed media's content. Additionally, they include the context that they
intend to give their customers. The additional image is in keeping with the news's
context. For more in-depth information, they can also include figures and diagrams.
"Broadcast media" refers to any information that is aired via radio or television. The
content of a commercial or ad campaign is a significant part of the news and has a
significant impact on society. People can just watch TV or listen to the radio without any
advertisements. The content of broadcast media is more entertaining, printed media is
informative in a way that provides a lot of details, while an advertisement is a short and
entertaining ad campaign. They think of a concept and apply their editing skills in a way
that is entertaining to the audience. It is in the form of video and audio. Therefore, they
use visual, verbal, and audio communication. While the audience depends on the
content of the media outlets, most adults or older people tend to buy newspapers with
adult news that catches their attention. People will just buy the print media based on the
context. It depends on the content and who their target audience is. While in broadcast
media, a lot of people can watch ad campaigns, and they just need to advertise their
campaign on the proper channel where they think they can attain their goals and target
audience. For me, both of them are very important, but since we are now in modern
times, we often prefer to watch TV or listen to the radio. But there are still people who
purchase print media.
