The Abstract is an important component of your research. Presented at the beginning of
the research, it is likely the first substantive description of your work read by an external
examiner. It would be best if you viewed it as an opportunity to set accurate expectations.
The Abstract is a summary of the whole research. It presents all the significant elements
of your work in a highly condensed form. Usually, a one-pager abstract is the most ideal.
You may wish to limit the abstract for your research to one 1.5-spaced page, about 280
words, to preserve visual coherence. The Abstract should mirror the structure of the
whole research, and should represent all its major elements.
In the succeeding paragraphs, there should be no indentations, and paragraphs are
justified with left alignment. Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your
Abstract.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
The Introduction is a key paragraph for both readers and writers—first impressions
matter. The reader will be more inclined to read a paper and consider a position if the
initial paragraph is clear, organized, and engaging. A carefully crafted first paragraph acts
as a springboard for the writer, establishing the order and direction for the entire paper.
The form and content of an introduction depend upon many factors, including the
specifics of the assignment, the intended audience, the style of the discipline, and your
professor's expectations. In general, your Introduction should capture the reader's
attention and provide essential context for your topic.
Delete this section and replace it with your Introduction.
Background of the Study
The Background presents the 'big picture,' identifying the context of the problem to be
investigated. It sets the stage for the relevance and purpose of the study. The Background
serves to underscore why your study should be done in the context of previous studies. It
uncovers a problem or issue where further research is required. It expands on the
statement, "While studies have shown . . . there is a need to . . ." The background section
– and more broadly, the whole of your study – is guided by the purpose of your research,
identifying what you, the researcher, hope to discover.

Research Questions
These are the questions your research will try to address. Avoid using research questions
that have a "yes" or "no" answer. Questions should be specific and should give a clear
indication of how they might be answered or accomplished.
Significance of the Study
The significance of the study describes the importance of the study. It aims to answer
these questions:
Elaborate on how the research will be of importance and how it will help
improve practice. Who will it help, and how? Will it provide a stepping-stone for
others to go further?
What benefits would occur if definitive answers were found to the research
question?
The number of specific objectives should be enough to cover the whole study. The
importance of the study is enumerated starting with number one (1).
1. Objective number 1;
2. Objective number 2; and
3. Last objective. Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your objectives

Scope and Limitations
The scope of a study explains how the research area will be explored and specifies the
parameters within which the study will be operating. Limitations identify potential
weaknesses of the study from sources that are outside of the control of the researcher.
Limitations are restrictions on the extent or type of available data. Limitations may also
restrict the generalizability of findings.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
This section conveys to the reader the knowledge and ideas that have been
established about the research topic from both published and unpublished
materials. The narrower your topic, the easier it will be to limit the number of
sources you need to read to obtain a good survey of relevant resources.

CHAPTER III
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK/CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
A theoretical framework is used to limit the scope of the relevant data by focusing on
specific variables and defining the specific viewpoint [framework] that the researcher
will take in analyzing and interpreting the data to be gathered.
A conceptual framework is a structure that the researcher believes can best explain the
natural progression of the phenomenon to be studied. It is the researcher’s explanation of
how the research problem would be explored. The conceptual framework describes the
relationship between the main concepts of a study. The format of the conceptual
framework can be visual (or diagrammatic), narrative (or descriptive), or a combination
of visual and narrative.

CHAPTER IV
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This section should describe how the researcher plans to gather and analyze the data and
information needed to answer the research questions. The type of research that the
researcher will do must also be described here. The following points must be made clear
in this section:
• The kind of study/research that the researcher will be doing and why the kind of
study was chosen.
• The types of data that will be gathered.
• The sources of data and information
• The data collection methods and procedures that will be used
• The sampling methods and procedures to be followed.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATION:
Validity:
The research design must address specific research questions. Hence, the conclusions of
the study must correlate to the questions posed and the results. Also, research ethics
demands that the methods used must relate specifically to the research questions.
Privacy and confidentiality:
If your study involves people, ethical considerations in research methodology require you
to make sure you respect human rights (for example, privacy of patients’ personal
information). The research study should maximize the benefits for both parties while
minimizing any possible harm. Special care should be taken when working with
vulnerable groups, like, children, people with disability, and older people. Any sensitive
information that is provided in confidence, including diagnostic results, grants
information, patients’ records, etc. should be protected.
Sampling
Sampling is the first step in research design. You will need to explain why you want a
particular group of participants. You will have to explain why you left out certain people
or groups. In addition, if your sample includes children or special needs individuals, you
will have additional requirements to address like parental permission

CHAPTER V
PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF FINDINGS
In this section, the researcher must present the data and information gathered. This
section involves data analysis, display, and interpretation guided by the research problem
and research questions.
Below are some points to consider:
• Present a profile of the research subjects, including relevant demographics about
them.
• Provide well-thought-out tables and diagrams with descriptive texts.
• Summarize transcripts for analysis by providing pieces of evidence through direct
quotations from the interviews
• Show the survey questionnaires provided and tabulation of results
This section must provide explicit answers to the research questions and research
problem. Insights drawn from the research findings must be included that would help the
reader of the study fully understand your findings.

CHAPTER VI
Conclusions and Recommendations
This section must include the significance of the study in relation to policies, theories, and
practices. Highlight the significance of the research as mentioned in chapter 1. In writing
conclusions, it must have an open perspective that is not definitive and incontestable. The
recommendations must include suggested improvements to be made in the way the research was
implemented, including future research directions that can still be made with regard to the
chosen research area.
REFERENCES
Your reference list should appear at the end of the paper. It provides the information necessary
for a reader to locate and retrieve any source cited in the body of the paper. Each source cited in
the paper must appear in the bibliography; likewise, each entry in the reference list must be cited
in the text. The references should begin on a new page separate from the text of the manuscript;
label this page REFERENCES centered at the top of the page (bold, but do not underline or use
quotation marks). All text should be double-spaced, just like the rest of the text. Follow the APA
Citation Format. Include the complete citation at the end of your paper in a references section.
References are organized by the author's last name in alphabetic (A-Z) order. Use an hanging
indent to separate each list item.
Basic Format:
Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Date). Title of the work. Source where you can retrieve the
work. URL or DOI if available
