A step toward right direction

Environmental protection is the act of preserving the environment by

individuals, organizations, and governmental entities. The conservation of natural
resources and the preservation of the current natural environment are its goals,
along with the possible repair of damage and reversal of trends.
Ms. Iris Anne M. Jaingue
Bigger problems in terms of trash on some islands affect humans and also
marine life. When it comes to trash, humans are fully controlled about it. According to
World Bank, the Philippines is the Third Largest Contributor to plastic waste in the
seas worldwide. 0.75 metric tons per year. Major problems are Release of toxic
chemicals, Damage to ecosystem, Economic Impact, Climate change. “Among 71
dead whales and dolphins we recovered in the past 11 years, 59 whales and
dolphins died directly due to fishing nets and plastic garbage inside their stomachs in
the Davao Gulf alone” Darrell Blatchley. Why should we care the environment? “The
environment and the economy are really both two sides of the same coin. If we
cannot sustain the environment, we cannot sustain ourselves” Wangari Maathai.
What can I do to help? Be Informed. Know the facts such as websites, apps,
documentaries, and social media. These are the activities that can be implemented
for educating students, such as Tulong Kalikasan, Dalaw Turo, and Hug a Tree. For
government employees, there are some activities that can be implemented, such as
adopting a tree, organizing a clean-up, monitoring and improving water quality,
planting trees to restore forests, connecting with nature, helping a community go
solar, and building a community garden. It chokes our oceans and water ways. They
tell us to recycle. But over 90% of plastic is not recycled and plastic production is
increasing. There is power in truth, Planet earth speaks to us, to create the world we
want, we can stop plastic pollution as it source, together we can change the world,
save planet. “The earth does not belong for us, we belong to the earth” Marlee

Human Ignorance and Education: Fighting for Environmental Protection. How
Ignorance kills the environment: Ignorance is always the enemy, and it is often
combined with fear, greed, corruption and agenda setting to serve special interest
groups, discrimination, conflicts and other selfish agendas that often have little to do
with the humanitarian needs of people. Ignorance is the problem and can only be
combated with democratic constitutions, stable government and scholarly
educational systems that are funded at the level necessary to truly educate people
for the future. How does education take part in environmental protection? A place to
grow. Good things can only come from educational systems that deals with
encouraging students to actively participate in recycling, reducing and reusing
products, and educating students as to how the current generation will set the stage
for future generations, especially human population and numbers and global
pollution. Human-environment interaction refers to how they respond toward one
another. It covers the relationships, interactions, and coexistence of people and their
surroundings. Humans rely on, adapt to, and change their surroundings. Investigate
Local Environmental Issues Such Identify both the direct and the indirect impacts of
human actions, including stories of local environments. Do some Recycled Arts,
create a work of art made of recycled objects. Using school or classroom’s recycling
bin, collect cans, jars, and other recyclables. Promote Natural Disaster Preparation,
find out that forces of nature could potentially strike your community, discuss how to
prepare for natural disasters and how families could respond to the natural disasters
they may face in their community. Have a school Garden, innovating around food in
a non-food focused garden and healthy food maker provides students with wood,
nails, and glue, where they can design and create gardening tools, container beds,
or a solar food dehydrator to store summer’s bounty.

The Philippine Environmental Problem: Environmental Crisis in the Philippine
Context and Environmental Activism in the Philippines. The Philippines is now
dealing with a number of environmental problems including pollution, illegal mining
and logging deforestation, threats against environmentalists, dynamite fishing,
landslides, coastal erosion, biodiversity loss, extinction, global warming, and climate
change. Environmental Pollution and Degradation. Philippine Environment has been
under threat, mostly from human activities, including deforestation and forest
degradation and illicit wildlife trade. The value of Illegal Logging and Wildlife Trade
(WT) Is estimated at 10 billion- 23 billion dollar per year, making wildlife crime that
fourth most lucrative illegal business after narcotics, human trafficking, and arms.
Illegal mining is also prevalent it leads to destruction of river banks and changes how
the river flows, what lives in and etc. Water Pollution and Degradation, with hundreds
of thousands of tons of plastic garbage thrown in the country’s river and 0.28 to 0.75
million tons of plastic waste evaporating into the waters from Manila Bay’s coastline
per year, the Philippine is one of the world’s worst plastic polluters. According to the
Global Witness, Philippines belongs to the top 4 countries and the deadliest country
in Asia for environmental activist to live in due to exponential growth in killings of
activist in the country. There are estimated 200+ killings of environmental activists
around the world, 20.28% of which comes from the Philippines. From 2016 to 2019
the Duterte Administration 113 environmental activities died under the guise of
environmentalists being communist rebels. Red Tagging and Environmental Activists.
Red Tagging is a political tool used by the government of the Philippines to brand
political dissidents and environmental activities as a “Communist Rebel” therefore
threatening the well being of anyone who is red tagged. Effects of Red tagging
towards Environmentalism, according to CHR. The of branding a person as a
“Communist Terrorist” impedes on the right of an individual to their right to free
speech. Red tagging environmental activists discourages people to be active in
preserving the nature thru activism because it threatens the security.
