LESSON Nº 22
ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY
Usamos los adverbios de frecuencia para expresar o describir qué tan seguido
realizamos una acción.
Existen 6 adverbios de frecuencia principales que se usan en el inglés: always,
usually, often, sometimes, y never.

Para hacer preguntas acerca de la frecuencia, normalmente se usa How often?

AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES

El adverbio de frecuencia va DESPUES del sujeto y ANTES del verbo principal
de la oración (Excepto con el verbo To Be)
Sujeto + frequency adverb + verbo principal +
(complemento)
EXAMPLE

Never tiene sentido negativo y se utilizan en frases afirmativas.

NEGATIVE SENTENCES
En las oraciones negativas colocamos el adverb of frequency ENTRE el
auxiliar don't o doesn't y el verbo principal.
Sujeto + don't/doesn't + frequency adverb + verbo principal +
(complemento)
EXAMPLE
I don't often watch TV.
No veo la televisión frecuentemente.
He doesn't usually go shopping.
Normalmente no va de compras.
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES
En las oraciones interrogativas, el frequency adverb se colocará ENTRE el
sujeto y el verbo principal.
Do/does + sujeto + frequency adverb + verbo principal +
(complemento) ?
EXAMPLE:
Do you always go to university by bus?
(tú) ¿Siempre vas a la universidad en
autobús?
Do you usually eat in a restaurant?
(tú) ¿Usualmente comes en un restaurante?

RESUME
We usually go to the supermarket on Sundays.
AFFIRMATIVE + He often go to the stadium.
They usually watch tv.
We don’t usually go to the supermarket on Sundays.
NEGATIVE - He doesn’t often go to the stadium.
They don’t usually watch tv.
INTERROGATIVE ? Do we usually go to the supermarket on Sundays?
Does he often go to the stadium?
Do they usually watch tv?
1. Cuando queremos utilizar un adverbio de frecuencia (adverb of
frequency) con el verbo to be, la oración tiene una estructura distinta a la
que hemos trabajado antes.El adverbio de frecuencia se coloca DESPUÉS del
verbo to be.
Sujeto +verbo to be+ frequency adverb + (complemento)
Example:
AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES
Sally is always Serious.
Sally esta siempre seria.
NEGATIVE SENTENCES
You aren't often at home.
No estás en casa a menudo.
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES
Why is Sally always tired?

El “imperative” es usado para expresar una orden, una petición, advertencia,
dar instrucciones, e incluso para aconsejar a alguien.
ORDENES INSTRUCCIONES ADVERTENCIAS
Clean your teeth, now! Open your books. Don't feed the animals.
¡Lávate los dientes, Abran vuestros libros. No des de comer a los
ahora! animales.

El uso del imperativo suele ser bastante directo y, a veces, puede sonar un poco
descortés.
Si queremos expresar una petición de una manera cordial, tenemos la opción
de incorporar la palabra please en la frase:
• Turn down the TV, please.
Apaga la tele, por favor.
• Please, sit down.
Por favor, siéntate.
• Turn on the light, please.
Enciende las luces por favor.
• Please, listen to me.
Escúchame por favor.
IMPERATIVO AFIRMATIVO
En las oraciones afirmativas, se utiliza la forma infinitiva del verbo y esta puede
ir acompañada de un complemento. Es importante destacar que no está
presente el sujeto porque se sobreentiende que es you (tú, ustedes).
Verbo + nombre, adjetivo…

¡Mira! ¡Llama a la policia!

IMPERATIVO NEGATIVO
En las oraciones negativas, utilizamos la forma don’t (o el auxiliar do + not)
seguido del verbo en infinitivo.
Verbo auxiliar (to do) + auxiliar negativo (not) + verbo + nombre, adjetivo…

¡No jueguen dentro de la casa!
