Second Semester, A.Y. 2021 – 2022
REX A. BAYANGAN
March 22, 2022

Part I. Objective. Instruction: Explain the following concepts (5 pts. Each)

1. Project management

- Everywhere you look projects are underway whether you are recruiting a
new staff or constructing big buildings every project needs a manager to
ensure its success someone with their eye on every detail. Project
Management is about getting thigs done. It’s about knowing what you want
to achieve it and how long it will it take.

2. Quantifiable projects

- This are projects for which a right quantitative assessment of benefits can be
made are termed, examples are power generation, industrial development,
mineral etc.

3. Non-quantifiable projects

- This are projects for which quantitative assessment can’t be made are
termed like for example health, education, defense etc.

4. Work breakdown Structure

- Work breakdown structure (WBS)  splits project deliverables into layers

based on their interdependencies. It's nothing more than a visual depiction of
your project plan, with the project aim at the top and dependents and sub-
dependencies underneath. Another cool thing about WBS is it actually can
bring accountability to your team members, because this is something that
you should be doing with them.

Part II. Essay. Instruction: Answer the following directly and to the point.
1. Present the diagram of a Project cycle and discuss ( 25pts).

- The project cycle is a useful way of outlining the stages of a project, it has
one drawback: it makes it look as though one tool follows another. In fact,
many of the planning tools can be used at any stage of the project. They
should be repeated throughout the project’s life to ensure that any changes
that might affect project success are accounted for. The first step in the
project cycle is to identify an issue that a project could address, this also
includes listening and interviewing. Second is Project Design stakeholder
analysis, research, including problem analysis, log frame, etc. Third
Implementation and during implementation we always review and monitor
for updates and changes. And Lastly evaluation we always need to
evaluate the project.
2. Compare project management and operations management (10 pts).

The Project management is a short-term endeavor that produces one-of-a-kind

products, services, or outcomes. This management field has a specified beginning
and end point. Project management experts (also known as project managers) carry
out their duties in accordance with certain company goals and objectives. These
transitory endeavors assist firms in achieving their objectives by functioning in
accordance with the methods devised. The application of skills, knowledge,
techniques, and tools to the project in order for it to achieve the requirements is the
focus of this management area.

Operations management is the management of business activities to create the

highest possible efficiency in an organization. It is the conversion of materials and
labor into goods and services as efficiently as possible in order to maximize the profit
of the organization. The operations management team seeks to balance costs and
revenues to achieve the highest possible net operating profit.
2. Discuss the triple constraint in project management (15 pts).
- The triple constraint has actually 4 components this are time, cost, scope,
and quality. So, of course, the time is talking about schedule, so the cost
is estimating the budget, the scope is talking about deliverables so of

course, the last would be quality is talking about the output of the
deliverables. Triple constraint in project management has a model of the
constraints of a project also these constraints are areas where changes
are introduced. The key is to balance these constraints throughout the
project.

tardiness and absenteeism brought by this pandemic in your department. Using the simple
project charter template that was given to you earlier as your guide, address the scenario. No
need to use a separate file, use this same file to make your project charter (30 pts).
