Subject: Project Veer Gatha Edition 2

Dear Principal,

Gallantry Awards have been instituted by the Government of India to honour the acts of bravery
and sacrifice of the officers/personnel of the Armed Forces, other lawfully-constituted Forces and
Civilians. These gallantry awards are announced twice in a year on the occasion of Republic Day
and Independence Day.

In order to disseminate the details of acts of bravery and the life stories of these brave- hearts
among the students, it has been proposed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) that school students
may be motivated to do projects/activities based on gallantry award winners. Accordingly, the first
edition of Project Veer Gatha was organized from Aug 2021 to Jan 2022, for schools affiliated to
CBSE and state boards. In pursuance of the Veergatha the students undertook different projects
on these gallantry award winners and the best projects were awarded nationally by MoD and
Ministry of Education (MoE) on 12th August, 2022.

The MoD in coordination with MoE has now decided to launch Project Veergatha Edition – 2 which
is proposed to be culminated with the prize distribution ceremony in January, 2023.

Interdisciplinary and art-integrated activities like poem/essay/story/paragraph/painting / drawing,

videos, may be considered as project activities for the students.

Timeline for Conducting Activities by Schools affiliated to CBSE:

6 October to 10 Conduct of Activities at the School Level: Students will
November 2022 execute project activities under the overall supervision of the
schools.
1 November to 22 Schools to upload 01 best entry per category, a total of 04
November 2022 from each school, at the CBSE Veergatha portal.
25 November to 10 Evaluation of entries submitted by schools to be done at the
December 2022 regional level as per the Rubrics given in Annexure I.
CBSE to finalise the number of entries at Regional Level.
Genuineness and originality of the entry being given for the
national level selection will need to be confirmed. The
selected entries will be sent to the Committee for National
level evaluation.
25 November to 10 MoE to nominate a committee for national level evaluation at
December 2022 CBSE.
12 December to 30 National Level Evaluation by committee nominated by MoE.

31 December 2022 Handing over the result to Ministry of Defence.

Registration at Gallantry Award Portal (GAP):

Schools will need to register all participating students at the Gallantry Award Portal of the MoD
(https://www.gallantryawards.gov.in). A unique ID will be given to all registered students. If a
student’s entry is selected at the school level, the Unique ID will also be filled at the time of
submission of entry at the CBSE/Veergatha portal. Further, all unique IDs will be sent to MoD.

Portal for Submission: CBSE Schools will submit one best entry from each category at the
CBSE-Veer Gatha Project Portal at www.cbse.gov.in . Maximum 04 entries (one from each
category) can be uploaded from one school.

Please note that the CBSE Veer Gatha Project Portal will be open for submission of entries
from 1st November to 22nd November, 2022. Schools should not wait for the last date for
submission of the best entries.

25 best entries, collectively from the participants at CBSE and MyGov Portals, will be selected
for awards as per the following details:

Decision of the Evaluators / Jury shall be final and no further correspondence will be entertained
in this regard.

Award:

i. 25 selected entries will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- by the Ministry of Defence.
ii. Each of the 25 winners will be invited for Republic Day Celebration at Delhi.
iii. All students whose entry is uploaded on the CBSE Veer Gatha portal will get an E- certificate
of Participation.

Annexure II

FAQs for Veer Gatha 2.0 Project

1. On which portal entries are to be uploaded/ submitted?
Ans: For CBSE schools, the Veer Gatha portal will be available at www.cbse.gov.in from
01.11.2022 to 22.11.2022. For all other schools (other than CBSE affiliated schools) in
states and UT, the portal will be available at MyGov.in
2. Can a student upload/ submit entries himself/ herself?
Ans: No. The interested students should contact their schools for participating in the project. 04
best entries (one from each category) will be uploaded by the school on the portal.
3. What should be the maximum duration and size of video?
Ans: The maximum size of video should be 5 MB and maximum duration should be 3
minutes. Video is to be uploaded on YouTube and the link of the same is to be provided
in the given column of the Veer Gatha portal.
4. In which language the students may write the project?
Ans: The students may write the project in Hindi or English or in any of the 22 Indian scheduled
languages.
5. Can the students form a group in order to enact a performance about the gallantry
award winner or should it be done as an individual?
Ans: Individual student only.
6. In which form the project is to be done?
Ans: The Project need not be in the written form of a file. Interdisciplinary and art-integrated
activities like Poem, Essay, Painting, Video can be an activity to be done by individual
students as a Project to participate.
7. Can a student make a sculpture of Gallantry Award Winner?
Ans: No. Only the activities as mentioned in the circular are to be done.
8. The project should be handwritten or typed?
Ans: It can be either handwritten or typed.
9. What should be the format of file i.e. PDF or WORD or JPG?
Ans: The format of different files should be as follows:
a) Video = Video should be uploaded on YouTube and link to be provided in portal.
b) Document Write = PDF to be uploaded
c) Image = JPG / PNG
In all the above formats, the file size should be 5 MB maximum.

10. What should be the size of paper for Painting?

Ans: The paper may be of any size. However, the student should click photo and upload
the same with maximum file size of 5 MB in JPG/ PNG format.
