Running Cycle Animation
➢ In this module I will be taking you through the steps of how to animate a character
walking in place. Basically, you will be creating a walk that loops infinitely, so if you
were to incorporate a walk like this into a movie, perhaps the background would be
scrolling from right to left behind the character to give the illusion of forward
movement.
➢ In a normal walk cycle animation, a character takes two steps in 1 second (24
frames). But the first and the last step hook up into the same pose so that it can be
looped again and again.
➢ For a walking cycle there are four primary poses to review: contact, down, passing,
and high point that can be animated depending on the character, on its mood: if it
is aggressive, playful, sad, etc.
