Types of Reservation System
There are several types of hotel computerized reservation system, but for this
lesson, the four types (see below) will be discussed.

platforms, energy efficiency, reputation management systems, etc., is the
evolutionary way for PMS that will create even more value for hoteliers.
5
9. It improves your You availability is updated immediately upon
efficiency as a receiving a reservation, not only in your own system, but
business. across all of your channels. You will save time on
administrative tasks while also minimizing the risk of
overbooking the rooms at your property.
10. User-friendly An increasing number of travellers are relying solely on
online reservations in order to book their
accommodations, and without this capability, you will
lose a significant amount of business.
With the advantages of having a PMS in a hotel discussed above, PMS helps
today's hoteliers deliver the experience guests want, while efficiently managing their
business. Hotel PMS offers many benefits for a hotelier's business. As the
consumer's travel journey begins by selecting a destination while simultaneously
shopping for a hotel, that pre-stay shopping and booking interaction, their on-
property engagement with the hotel and its staff, their in-room experience, and
their sharing of feedback on social media post-stay are all part of their guest
experience, hoteliers are challenged with providing a personalized guest experience
while operating an effective hotel business.
2. Hotelogix— Another PMS for small properties is Hotelogix. However, this PMS is
also suitable for hotels and resorts. It has a strong channel management
module, third-party integration with reservation platforms, and offers
customization.
5. Stays PMS— is a relatively new property management system designed solely for
vacation property rentals. It features a channel management system with
connection to more than 40 distribution channels, including Airbnb,
Booking.com, Expedia, and HomeAway. Although this property management
system is not designed primarily to serve hotels, it has all the tools of a typical
hotel property management system.
6
6. Little Hotelier— is a cloud-based solution for small hotel properties like B&Bs,
hostels, and guesthouses. The PMS is powered by SiteMinder and integrates
with this reservation platform.
The CRS typically receives inventory from the PMS, then distributes rates and
availability in real-time to direct and third-party channels, including the hotel’s
own website booking engine and call center (direct channels), as well as channel
managers, OTAs, GDS, and metasearch (third-party channels). Reservations from
these channels are sent back to the CRS and subsequently synced into the PMS for
room allocation. Hotel revenue managers and marketing/e-commerce managers
use CRS or distribution systems to create various promotions and offers through
rate plans for different channels and to adjust pricing quickly to be updated across
all channels. Reservation agents also work in the CRS to manage reservations.

Advantages of using CRS in hotel reservation systems
1. It offers vertical booking features
2. The platform includes more than 200 reliable and guaranteed “direct
connections” to channels
3. Updating is almost in real time
4. The user only has one extranet for all services, including channel
management
5. The system, and the technical assistants, know the characteristics, the
potential, and the right selling strategies for each channel
6. It has a range of features that make it the most complete and user-friendly
system on the international market
7. No additional costs required if external Metasearch Managers are used
8. More reliability due to the fact that it does not need an interface between
two systems
9. The system, as a part of the platform, takes into account all restrictions
and discounts applied, such as minimum stay through, early booking
discounts, etc.
10. It includes a reporting system to monitor investments and measure the
ROI
11. Consultancy services are available from the same people involved in CRS
and channel management
8
4. Vertical Booking— Vertical Booking is a leading, global reservation technology
provider with hotel clients in 107 countries worldwide, offering solutions
translated into 29 languages and usable in all currencies. Vertical Booking can
provide a customizable solution that supports the entire guest booking cycle—
including a booking engine, GDS distribution, channel manager, OTA rate
comparison tool and a reservation call center application—all through one
integrated CRS dashboard.
5. Busy Rooms— Busy Rooms offers an adaptable, brandable, and scalable cloud-
based Central Reservation System designed to be the control center for our
Customers' daily sales, marketing, and revenue management activities for
accommodation providers.

A GDS passes on hotel inventory and rates to travel agents and travel sites
that request it and also accepts reservations.
5. The GDS can help hotel managers uncover new market segments to
promote their products to. In many cases, hotel operators discover
through the GDS that there are traveller market segments interested in
their products that they could not previously reach.
6. More travel agents are relying on the GDS to find the best places for
their clients to stay.
7. Through the GDS, the agents have access to live rates and availability,
and they can easily book rooms for their clients.
8. When you complete your hotel description comprehensively, the GDS
improves search positioning and displays your brand messaging during
the search and booking process, which means travel agents are more
easily able to source your hotel for their clients.
10
For hotel owners, the primary benefit of the Galileo GDS system is the ability
to distribute hotel rooms to travel agencies and customers on a global scale. This is
achieved by providing travel agents with 24-hour live access to inventories and
pricing information, allowing them to book rooms at the hotel for their customers.

It is a powerful instrument for enabling online reservations and improving
coverage of audience. IDS hotel software for vacation rentals is exceptionally useful
when hoteliers need to enable Internet booking of properties by potential visitors
from around the globe.
2. ResAvenue— offers a powerful yet easy to use channel management system that
allows you to manage your online distribution with ease, while simultaneously
expanding your universe of potential guests. ResAvenue Channel Connect
consolidates multiple sales channels into a single, easy to manage channel. You
12
can efficiently manage availability, rates, and inventory across multiple OTAs, all
from a smart single interface with no multiple log-ins required.
It is important for hoteliers to choose the right reservation system for their hotel’s
operation since it saves time and cuts costs. The right reservation system will
also save guests' time, because they will not need to wait for hours until your
team confirms their reservation; thus, creating a good first impression for the
service of the hotel.
