Purpose of bag technique
-To render effective care to clients and / or family members of the family in a community
during home visits.

Principles of Bag Technique


1. Minimize spread of infection
2. Save time and effort
3. Should show effectiveness of total care
4. Can perform in variety of ways (as long as transfer of infection is eliminated).
5. Contain necessary articles
6. Contents should be cleaned, supplies replaced and ready to use any time
7. Contents = Clean; Environment = Contaminated
8. Arrangement of the articles in the bag must be convenient to the user (as long as
transfer of infection is eliminated).
9. Hand washing is done frequently (as needed)
10. The bag must be clean and disinfected at once when used to patient
with communicable disease

Benedict’s test
-is a standard method of determining the quantity of sugar in the urine by CHEMICAL
REDUCTION.

Benedict’s Solution - “Cupric Hydroxide”

• Obtain Client’s Urine BEFORE MEAL.
• Prepare Equipments:

Procedure
1. Place one teaspoon of Benedict’s solution in a clean test tube.

2. Heat (mild heat for 3-5 minutes) the Benedict’s solution


by holding the test tube over flame.

3. Add 8-10 drops of urine.

4. Heat again without bringing to a boil.

5. Place the test tube on a test tube rack


and let stand for a few seconds.
