Institutionalizing the Barkada
Kontra Droga Program
Was born out of young people’s desire to have a youth
core group who shall serve as role models they can
emulate.
A symbol of a healthy drug–free
youth group which embodies the
qualities most young people look for
as a model group.
God-fearing,self-disciplined,
trustworthy and true friend/
Best of friends.
General Objective
• It aims to empower the individual to be the catalyst within
his/her peer groups in advocating a healthy, drug-free
lifestyles thru involvement in various positive wholesome
activities.
• A preventive education and information program to counter the
dangers and disastrous effects of drug abuse
• Nationwide Barkadahan Concept
- a collective action among the youth/students of the
community/school that would strengthen camaraderie,
collaboration, cooperation and solidarity in their common
commitment to attain a drug-free lifestyle.
Specifically, BKD aims
• To establish a nationwide Barkada Kontra Droga
Movement;
• To train people in advocating a healthy, drug free
lifestyle;
• To create a truly drug-free environment in home,
school and community;
• To encourage productive use of time and engage in
wholesome alternative activities; and
• To provide support services towards sustainability of
Barkada Kontra Droga Movement

• Launching of the campaign through Barkada Kontra Droga
Fun Run or Barkada Kontra Droga Concert with media

• Series of Media plugs on “Barkada Kontra Droga” to create
awareness, sustain interest on the program and gain more
advocates.
• Press releases/news features through major newspapers
and community newspapers.

• Training of core group on life skills, leadership, income-
generating opportunities and resource mobilization

Citizen’s brigade using calls/text messaging to report cases of
drug use and drug pushing

General Objectives: To encourage schools/academic institutions to be
become more actively involved in promoting people empowerment in
leading a healthy lifestyle that is drug-free and productive
The Search specifically aims to :
a. strengthen the NDEP through the BKD movement established in the schools;
b. develop skills and understanding among students, faculty and school
administrators in initiating active responses for a drug-free school;
c. increase community awareness and participation; hence, maintaining a fully
drug-free environment in the school, home, workplace and community;
d. support and sustain the services in the Barkada-adopted concepts among
educators, professionals, families, work forces, peer groups and other sectors;
and
e. identify best practices of the different BKD Chapters, which will serve as models
for other schools to implement.
