What is SSW?

India and Japan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for sending Specified Skilled
Workers (SSW) from India to Japan.
Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) is a new status of residence created by Japan in 2019 under
which skilled Indian nationals can obtain jobs and stay in Japan. The MoC covers 14
categories of specified skills under which skilled workers from India would be eligible for
employment in Japan.

• Qualify Japanese Language skill test
• Qualify work skills test

The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test is a standardized criterion-referenced test

to assess, verify, and confirm the ability of the Japanese language of non-native speakers
and Japanese learners.
It covers Japanese language knowledge, reading comprehension and listening skills.
In Japan, it has been administered by the JEES (Japan Educational Exchanges and Services),
while the J.F. (Japan Foundation) [Link] overseas tests.

The Japanese Government will be hosting a dedicated “Job Fair” for India on 22nd December,
2021 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm IST through a virtual platform. The event aims to bring together
