Respond in detail to the following questions -

3. Reliable
Discuss your career and personal goals: My career goals are to study in the psychology field and to be employed in
psychiatry. I choose this career because psychology is something that interests me and I enjoy learning. I'd also like to be a
personal psychologist where I can help people cope with their problems. My personal goals are to make my parents proud
and to have a good successful future where I am employed well and happy with what I decide to study and work in. I'd like
to buy my parents a house if I could. That is one of my goals because it's the least I can do for them. They've taken care of
me my whole life and raised me well. Making my parents happy and proud of my accomplishments is one of my biggest
personal goals.
Why would you like to attend college/trade school/military?
In the future, I would like to attend a 4-year college. I'd like to attend college because I want to continue to pursue what I
enjoy learning and discover more about it. Attending college will teach me more life lessons and will also prepare me for
being an adult and help me mature more. I want a good future and I believe that by going to college it will be more
guaranteed that I will have a better future because I will be educated better and prepared more for the business world.
Do your grades in high school reflect your academic ability or potential? Explain.
No, My academic grades do not reflect on my ability or potential. they don't because for example during online school on
zoom I had a very hard time participating and doing my work but that was just because I can't learn through a computer.
Being in person pushes me more to be outgoing and try new things. but for most of us students we go through personal
things at home and that can affect us to do poorly at school. Personally, I've had years where my mental health was bad and i
didn’t do well in school but that didn't mean that I was just bad in academics during that time. I was just not in a good state
of mind at that time. Just because I had bad grades during certain points in my life doesn't mean that those grades were my
best, I have more potential in me but at times they don’t show.
Are there any particular circumstances, school experiences, or persons that influenced your preparation or motivation to
attend college/military (e.g., cultural/financial background, family, and teachers)? Explain.
In 7th and 8th grade when I was in the avid program was when I began to be inspired to go to college, not only because of the
program but because of the teacher that we had. He was a very wise person and gave great advice and educated us well on
college topics. When we would do research for colleges it would be fun because he made it into group projects so it was faster
and easier for us to learn information. He was always the type of person who was caring and would check up on you and sit
down to help you with anything you needed. He wants all his students to do well and it really shows. every time we talked I felt
like I learned a new lesson in life. Recently I've spoken with him after 4-5 years and it was great to catch up and talk about how
I'm doing in school and what I'm deciding to do in the future. He always gives advice on how to make it through your struggles
and how every mistake teaches us a new thing. you never finish a conversation with him where you are disappointed or feeling
insecure about yourself.
Describe any obstacles you have faced in school/life and how you overcame them:
A challenge I faced somewhat recently occurred when we entered quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I had always been
a solid student, passing my courses with relative ease. But, when we were forced to move into the virtual space with many
teachers being unprepared school became increasingly challenging. Especially during the 11th-grade year I began losing
motivation and was unable to concentrate due to a poor mental state and the whole transition in general. Not being able to
socialize with friends took
a great toll on my mental stability which then, in turn, seeped into my academic performance. It was not looking too good but
thinking about my future allowed me to change my habits. So although I was not in the right mental state I pushed through the
painstaking obstacles and was able to pass my classes. Looking back I am both glad and proud that I was able to persevere
through these troubling times. Fortunately, we are back to school in real life and my mental stability has been rejuvenated
allowing me to give my full effort in school.
