The comparison is done on the basis of measured performance of sales figure from the Annual Report of the
respective company and its competitors. The sales figure data for the financial year ending on 31 .3.201 9 and
31 .3.2020 has been obtained from the profit and loss statement provided in the current annual report of the
respective companies. Lastly, the collected data of chosen company Royal Enfield and its five major
competitors are ranked on the basis of sales figure of particular year. This detailed ranking gives a complete
knowledge of the performance of chosen company Royal Enfield and its competitors. There by on analyzing
this report a company can modify their strategies on sales figure and would lead to financial betterment and
progress of the respective company.
1.1 BACKGROUND : COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
India is also a prominent auto exporter and has strong export growth expectations
for the near future. Automobile exports grew 26.56 per cent during April-July 2018.
It is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.05 per cent during 2016-2026. In addition,
several initiatives by the Government of India and the major automobile players in
the Indian market are expected to make India a leader in the two-wheeler and four
wheeler market in the world by 2020. In the competitive automobile industry,
competitors have to ensure their products are attracting to the consumers and high
perception. The sales of the automobile will enhance the company’s growth,
profitability and market shares. Many consumers make their purchasing decisions is
not always on the products pricing, but is on product characteristics, quality and
perception, even between with fast moving consumer good (FMCG) (Veloutsou,
Gioulistanis & Moutinho, 2004). Some of the producer tends to focus on their own
product comparable quality with the international brands, while others give less
emphasis on the quality and concentrate on low price products. It is based on their
target market. This theory can be converted to products marketed in internationally
or locally. The British and German consumers with emphasize to the purchase
intention in automobiles, placing particular emphasis on quantifying the relative
importance of country-of-origin (Diamantopoulus, Schlegelmilch & Du Preez,
1995). Therefore, the product quality will cause induction on consumer by increased
their purchase intention attitude towards the brand and willingness of the product.
ROYAL ENFIELD
Royal Enfield was a brand name under which The Enfield Cycle Company Limited of Redditch,
Worcestershire sold motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines which they had
manufactured. Enfield Cycle Company also used the brand name Enfield without Royal.The first
Royal Enfield motorcycle was built in 1901. The Enfield Cycle Company is responsible for the
design and original production of the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest-lived motorcycle design in
history.
Royal Enfield's spare parts operation was sold to Velocette in 1967, which benefitted from the
arrangement for three years until their closure in early 1971. Enfield's remaining motorcycle
business became part of Norton Villiers in 1967 with the business eventually closing in 1978.

HISTORY:
In 1882 his son, also named George, started making components for cycle manufacturers including
saddles and forks. By 1886 complete bicycles were being sold under the names Townsend and
Ecossais. This business suffered a financial collapse in 1891.[2][3] Albert Eadie, sales manager of
Birmingham's Perry & Co Ltd, pen makers who had begun to supply components for cycles, and
Robert Walker Smith, an engineer from D. Rudge & Co,[4] were chosen by Townsend's bankers to
run the business. Then, in 1892, the firm was re-incorporated and named Eadie Manufacturing
Company Limited.
