Narrator: Good afternoon dear viewers.
Today, we had the chance to show to all of you what it is like to
be culturally sensitive through a role play.
The scene you are about to witness is a college class from University of the East and they are conducting
virtual learning. As you all know, due to the pandemic students are forced to learn virtually and teachers
are mandated to teach through the use of online tools. Although this tactic is a great way in adapting to
the pandemic, most students and especially teachers had a very hard time doing it as not every teacher
are exposed to media. Most of them have done teaching for the past several years through traditional
teaching. Just like Mr/ Ms._______ (yung gaganap)………

All Students: Good Morning Sir/ Mam
Teacher: So happy first day of class in English I’m _____ and I’ll be your professor for the 1 st sem in
English. It is already my 30th year in teaching but it will be my first year I guess in teaching online. I’m not
used with all this technology and online tools that’s why I was a bit late…. So, it will be much appreciated
if you can all bear with me. I’ll get used to this through the course of time but for the mean time please
be patient with me.
(iinsert yung vid nato after sabihin ng teacher “that’s why I was a bit late”)

*aatayin muna mag play yung vid ng ilang seconds
Student 4: Excuse me po sir, there is no audio po
Teacher: there’s no audio? Okay wait…. But the volume is already up… hhmmmm wait class
*ilang seconds
Student 5: (tuturuan si sir)
*ipplay ng may audio
Teacher: Is it audible already class?
Student 1: yes po sir
Teacher: good, I’m sorry for the interventions and thank you class for guiding me. Now, let’s all watch
the video
Narrator: I hope that the short video teaches us that understanding people's culture allows us to
communicate with them more successfully, going beyond words and grammar. Being culturally sensitive
about people’s age, tradition, customs, etc. makes a good and healthy environment. Because when
people learn to accept and embrace diversity and individuality, we cannot only appreciate or adopt to
their culture or norms but we can also make them understand ours in the most respectful and humble
way.
