Activity 3. Express ideas
The word "technology" and its uses have immensely changed since the 20th century,
and with time, it has continued to evolve ever since. We are living in a world driven by
technology. The advancement of technology has played an important role in the
development of human civilization, along with cultural changes. Technology provides
innovative ways of doing work through various smart and innovative means. Technology
has changed our day-to-day lives. Technology has brought the world closer and better
connected. Those days have passed when only the rich could afford such luxuries.
Because of the rise of globalisation and liberalisation, all luxuries are now within the
reach of the average person. Today, an average middle-class family can afford a mobile
phone, a television, a washing machine, a refrigerator, a computer, the Internet, etc. At
the touch of a switch, a man can witness any event that is happening in far-off
places. Technology is making the education industry improve over time. With
technology, students and parents have a variety of learning tools at their fingertips.
Teachers can coordinate with classrooms across the world and share their ideas and
resources online. Students can get immediate access to an abundance of good
information on the Internet. Teachers and students can access plenty of resources
available on the web and utilise them for their project work, research, etc. Online
learning has changed our perception of education. Technological advancements in the
healthcare industry have not only improved our personal quality of life and longevity;
they have also improved the lives of many medical professionals and students who are
training to become medical experts. It has allowed much faster access to the medical
records of each patient. Today, farmers work very differently than they would have
decades ago. Data analytics and robotics have built a productive food system. Digital
innovations are being used for plant breeding and harvesting equipment. Software and
mobile devices are helping farmers harvest better. With various data and information
available to farmers, they can make better-informed decisions, for example, tracking the
amount of carbon stored in soil and helping with climate [Link] is also
disadvantages in technology people have become dependent on various gadgets and
machines, resulting in a lack of physical activity and tempting people to lead an
increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Even though technology has increased the productivity
of individuals, organisations, and the nation, it has not increased the efficiency of
machines. Machines cannot plan and think beyond the instructions that are fed into their
system. Technology alone is not enough for progress and prosperity. Management is
required, and management is a human act. Technology is largely dependent on human
intervention
Activity 4. Read to Learn
1. Main Idea: The lack of what most of us would consider a basic communication
necessity the telephone does not occur just in developing nations.
Details: . On some Native American reservations only 60 percent of the residents
have a telephone. The move to wireless connectivity may eliminate the need for
telephone lines, but it does not remove the barrier to equipment costs.
2. Main Idea:The digital divide between the populations who have access to the
internet and information technology tools and those who don t is based on
income, race, education, household type, and geographic location, but the gap
between groups is narrowing.
Details: Eighty-five percent of households with an income over $75,000 have
internet access, compared with less than 20 percent of the households with
income under $15,000. Over 80 percent of college graduates use the internet as
compared with 40 percent of high school completers and 13 percent of high
school dropouts. Seventy-two percent of household with two parents have
internet access; 40 percent of female, single parent households do. percent.
3. Main Idea:African american, latinos, and native americans hold few of the jobs in
information technology
Details:Women about 20 percent of these jobs and receiving fewer than 30
percent of the bachelor's degrees in computer science. The result is that women
and members of the most oppressed ethnic group are not eligable for the jobs w/
the highest salaries at graduation.
4. Main Idea:The higher percentage of the schools with more affluent students
have wired classrooms than these with high concentrations of low income
students
Details:The ninety-eight percent of schools in the country are wired with at least
one internet connection & the number of classroom with internet connection. By
using the percentage of students who are eligible for free launches at a school is
to determine the income level.
5. Main Idea: Computers and the internet are to be used to promote equality, they
have to become accessible to schools cannot currently afford the equipment
which needs to be updated regularly every three years or so
Details: access alone is not enough; Students will have to be interacting with the
technology in authentic settings. As technology has become a tool for learning in
almost all courses taken by students, it will be seen as a means to an end rather
than an end in itself. If it is used in culturally relevant ways, all students can
benefit from its power.

Activity 3. Say it properly
Pregnancy in girls aged 19 or below is termed as teenage pregnancy. Unplanned
sexual intercourse is more common in age group 12-14 who are not aware of protected
sex. It becomes therefore essential to offer education and community support to such
young girls and also create awareness about contraception to keep them safe from any
such experience later upon. A teenage pregnancy is certainly debilitating for the girl
child who is often faced with societal and family pressure because of the indiscretion
that resulted into her pregnancy. Children who are born to teenage parents are more
likely to face problems with good education because social support may lack in their
case. If appropriate community support is offered through child-care support and social
services, such children can also get good education and settle as independently earning
individuals in the society.

Activity 5. Read critically
Cynic- a person who believes that people are motivated purely by self-interest rather
than acting for honorable or unselfish reasons.
Demoralize- cause (someone) to lose confidence or hope
Destabilize- upset the stability [Link] unrest in
Anarchic- with no controlling rules or principles to give order.
Unrelentingly- not softening or yielding in determination
Chronic disease- A disease or condition that usually lasts for 3 months or longer and
may get worse over time.
Callous- showing or having an insensitive and cruel disregard for others.
Predominant- having superior strength, influence, or authority
Transcend- be or go beyond the range or limits of (something abstract, typically a
conceptual field or division.
Authentic- of undisputed origin; genuine
Vigorously- in a way that involves physical strength, effort, or energy; strenuously.
Main Idea:Have we succeeded in building a new nation, by transcending our petty
selves, by setting aside our differences by working together in a spirit of true self giving,
loving our country first, above our own interest?
Details:Bayan muna, bago ang sarili. It is a question we must ask ourselves, as we
remember Ninoy’s gift Bayan muna, bago ang sarili. It is a question we must ask
ourselves, as we remember Ninoy’s gift
Main Idea:It has been said that the truest motto of our people is “K.K.K”. No, not
Katipunan, shaping unity out of our diversity.
Details:Kanya-Kanya’ng Katwiran, Kanya-Kanya’ng Kagustuhan, Kanya-Kanya’ng
Kabig (or worse) Kanya-Kanya’ng Kurakot... or whatever else each one “specializes”
in!.Cynics among us say that K.K.K is the definition of our national character, the
predominant strain in our national culture. It’s what we are when we are “most natural”,
most ourselves. “Bayan muna, Bago ang Sarili” is an abstract, non-operative ideal, good
for speeches, good for posters, goo for classroom rhetoric but not for real, notfor real
life. For real is K.K.K
Main Idea: If all we do is talk and talk, and throw dirt at each other-forgetting to mind
the ship and its engines, and steer it in mine-filled waters-why, we will still be taking and
quarrelling when our ship goes down into the sea
Details: We must begin, rather, where we can begin, with ourselves we must ask: What
can we do about it? What in our own heart, in our own attitudes, in our own practices,
must be changed? What sacrifices must we ourselves do to make a positive 26

contribution of deeds, to put under control this chronic illness in our society, and in our
culture?
Main Idea: When Ninoy spoke of “the quest for that elusive national unity which is
imperative for the nation’s survival”-he said “survival”. He meant “survival”.
Details: How can we survive, as a nation and as a people, if we have made the name
of our national game as anarchic free-for-all in a “basket of crabs?” (7) K.K.K also
means, we are told, Kanya Kanyang Kabig, Kanya- Kanyang Kurakot. Surely I don’t
need to dwell on this theme this morning. For weeks, the papers, radios, TV, have
shouted nothing else. It is the talk of the marketplace. I myself have spoken, often
enough, of the 40 big thieves left behind in our midst, and many many smaller ones
which might [Link] ourselves? Who among us did not re-echo the sentiments and
the work of the beloved Chino Roces when he asked for a renewed moral order in
government and society? It is a problem which must be addressed, and addressed
vigorously and unrelentingly
1. Yes
2. It’s sociological because it focuses on man's relationship to others in society,
politics, religion, and business.
3. I agree because, when we say Bayan over self we are being true, as a citizen, as
leader and as a follower. We are not greedy of money or of any material things
because we know it's not for ourselves but for the country. Bayan muna bago
ang sarili means, my country first, set aside the own interests and it is being
selfish to self.

What I Can Do
It's purpose is to exhort, excite, and educate; to be avoided at all costs is a 'preaching'
aspect, or scolding tone. The Roman Catholic worshiper is not there to hear what he or
she can easily glean through their own reading of scripture. They are there to extract
from whatever passage chosen a moral, element or issue not immediately apparent.
The homily has undergone a slow transformation over many years, from a more direct
applying of both secular and ecclesiastical power to a means of uniting worshipers in
the spirit of their church. In all cases, the priest is free to present a homily that touches
and moves them, and allows them to spiritually revisit the scripture on their own. It's
