GLP Proposal Form

This group proposes to hold a yoga and meditation class. They will secure a location like the IM building or Ford Hall. The class will begin with an introduction and stress evaluation. They will then lead participants through two 10-15 minute yoga sessions of varying difficulty levels. Between the yoga sessions will be 10 minute guided meditation periods. At the end, participants will reevaluate their stress levels and discuss the mental health benefits of meditation. Risks and behavior management strategies are considered. The 11 group members signed off on the proposal.

Event Overview

Location: IM/White Building or 808 Ford
Description of Theme/Event: Yoga/Meditation Class
Skills/concepts that will be taught: Teaching Yoga at different skill levels and different meditation
techniques throughout the event. Will put an emphasis on the mental and physical health benefits of meditation.

Logistics: (Securing location, props & materials needed, invitations?)


-Calling IM/White Building to secure location (808 Ford is our backup if IM is not available)
-Need yoga mats (IM/White can supply if we secure those locations)
-will make and print stress evaluation papers for participants to fill out

ORDER OF EVENTS/ACTIVITIES

Introduction: This is where you will use appropriate leadership style and energy to set the tone for the
activity. In this section you should consider: Intro yourself and other leaders; Intro the activity; Get
participants engaged and motivated for the event.

Risk:
-people might have health problems so look into alternative/easier poses
-also think about if people are not able to participate at all what they could do
Behavior:
-we plan to play calming music to relax people and set the tone of the event
Motivation:
-meditation is easy and everyone can do it
-every college student wants to relax and take a nap
