1 PREFACE
BMT herewith submits this method statement to describe the methodology regarding Pile Head Treatment
Works of Piles. The statement consists of Site preparation, Construction Procedure, Quality Assurance
related to Contractor’s responsibility for implementation of the works following requirements mentioned in
Specification and Designs of the Project.
1.1 Definition
Project: Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant
Subcontractor: Bac Mien Trung Consultancy Investment Construction and Trading. JSC (BMT)
TCVN 9394-2012: Pile driving and static jacking works - Constructions, check and acceptance.
2 CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE
2.1 Site Preliminaries
Pre-surveys shall be conducted to capture the existing conditions of all above and underground
Control points and benchmarks based on the temporary benchmarks shall be set out at stable and
fixed location along the perimeter of the work area with total station and auto levels.
Excavation area shall be marked with a pin at the exact position with reference to the control point
set out.
Control and check to ensure that any underground service has been detected and considered which
if requires to be relocated.
The suitable excavated soil shall be placed around excavated foundation pit as a soil dike and will
be used for backfilling later on. The unsuitable excavated soil shall be removed out of the Site.
For avoid collapsing of foundation pit, minimum distance between soil dike and foundation pit is at
least 2 m and shall be surrounded by warning tape/barricade. The minimum distance from Excavator
to pit is at least 1 m.
The ditch system will be excavated around at the bottom of excavated foundation pit and one or
more water pit is set up in the corners. The pumping will be set up to pump water out of foundation
pit.
After excavation work is done, surveyor will mark and clearly indicate the cutting pile head elevation
on the outer surface of installed piles. Perfectly dry condition shall be ensured to continue further
work.
The position of cable fixed in point at 1/3 length of cut pile segment from pile head. The excavator
or crane will hold the upper part of pile to not fall down by the hook and wire while the cutting process
is carrying out.
After finish cutting, the surplus part of pile will be lift out of foundation pit by crane or excavator &
transported to approved disposal area.
After finishing pile head cutting, use wood plate and sand bag to cover until installing rebar cage
and pouring concrete of foundation.
Main bars of Pile head steel cage shall be bent with angle 640 at top of steel cage.
Before installing the rebar and pouring concrete inside the pile, any debris such as soil, oil and dirt
shall be removed and internal surface of the pile shall be cleaned.
2.7 Installing the rebar and pouring concrete inside the Pile
The rebar workers will install steel cage by hand, and use a piece of rebar for keeping it at designed
elevation.
Inspecting quality of rebar work (rebar diameter, spacing, hoop...) as well as other requirement
before implementation of pouring concrete. The concrete grade shall be the same with concrete of
foundation. The steel grade shall conform to General notes.
