PERFORMANCE TASK 2: METHOD OF PHILOSOPHIZING
Establishing Truth and Opinion
Topic: Education during Pandemic
INTRO
Moral: Good morning, everyone my name is Maurecio Moral and for today's video we're going to discuss the truth
and opinion on education during the pandemic. So, before we proceed to our main topic let's recap about what
happened in the first month of the pandemic.
RECAP ABOUT HOW PANDEMIC START
3D Animation: SARS-CoV-2 virus transmission leading to COVID-19
Mendoza: Philippine authorities are set to implement a community quarantine of the entire Metro Manila region
from March 15 to slow down the spread of COVID-19. There are 16 cities in the region, and there has been
widespread criticism on the way the restrictions on people's movements were announced on March 12. They were
announced much later than scheduled and without clear mechanisms as to how exactly they would be enforced.
Philippines Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said there will still be a free flow of goods to and from Metro Manila.
He assured the public that there will be supplies of food and essential items.
DISCUSSION ABOUT EDUCATION DURING PANDEMIC
Briones: Blended learning to start on August 24
Red: We are facing an education crisis. The Philippines is one of the five countries in the world that have not started
in-person classes since the pandemic began, affecting the right to learn of more than 27 million Filipino students.
While new variants are causing a rise of infections, UNICEF is advocating for a phased reopening of schools,
beginning in low-risk areas. This can be done on a voluntary basis with proper safety protocols in place.
Tech challenges of online schooling in the Philippines during the pandemic
Heidie: For nearly 77 million students around the world schools have been completely closed for almost 18 months.
Without school, children’s physical and mental wellbeing are at risk. For many educations, safety, friends and food
are being replaced by anxiety, violence, neglect, child marriage, child labor and teenage pregnancy.
And remote learning is not an option for at least a third of the world’s schoolchildren. This cannot go on. Children
must return to in-person learning as soon as possible. Every child has the right to an education and to the safety and
protection that schools provide.
ENDING
Mau: Base on those articles, covid-19 became a barrier in almost 1 year and a half now. Students had a rough time
on processing especially when the education system changed. We must understand that safety is important for us so,
the right thing to do is follow the rules that was given by the government. If we follow them, the possibility of going
back to normal routine can be made easily. For now, as much as online classes/modular is stressful, we must resist it
for the sake of the students and our country. Some might deny it and chose work over education but it’s their choices
to help the family in the middle of pandemic. That’s all for our report, thank you for lending us your ear and I hope
that you learned something about our topic.
