2.6.2 Configuration web page

Use the Configuration web page to configure SafeCom Go Samsung, including
which server it should connect to and how users should be identified.

SafeCom server section

Enter the Group name, SafeCom server TCP port (default is 7500) and the
SafeCom server (hostname or IP address).

Note: The SafeCom G4 server must be a member of the domain or trusted by

the domain.

D60719-10 18
2 SafeCom Go Samsung

Device section

Device name and Model name are automatically filled in.

Device location and Contact person are important references for the SafeCom
solution so it’s a good idea to fill them in. View the name, model and location
in the Device properties dialog in SafeCom Administrator.

Community name must match the Get Community Name if this is different
from public. By default the Community name is set to public.

Choose how users log in at the device in User identification:

 User code: users enter a user code to log in.

 Card: users swipe a card to log in.
 Card or User code: users log in with either a card or user code.
 Card or Windows: users log in by card or by entering their Windows
username, password and domain. The SafeCom G4 server must be a
member of the domain or trusted by the domain.
 Auto-sense (default): If a USB ID device is connected, users log in by
Card or Windows on the MFP or Card on the printer. If no USB ID device
is detected then users log in by ID Code.

Choose one of the following for Pre-fill domain:

 Blank (default): Select if users belong to different domains. All users

need to enter their domain at login with their Windows username and
password.
 Default domain: Select if the majority of users belong to a particular
domain. If Default domain is prefilled it makes it easier for users to log in
with their Windows username, password and domain.
 Hide: Select if all users belong to the same domain. Users will not be
prompted for the domain when they log in with their Windows username
and password. Remember to specify the Default domain, otherwise the
device reverts back to Blank when you click Apply.

Mask user code: Check to get increased security by using the asterisk (*)
character to mask the entered user code.

Print all at login: Select if all unretained user documents should be printed as
soon as the user logs in to pull print. This setting applies to the device. If
checked, this overrules the equivalent user property on the SafeCom G4 server.

Show newest first: Check to have documents listed and printed in last-in first-
out order.

Track: Enables tracking of Copy, Folder, Fax and E-mail.

Note: All copy jobs are tracked as either color or mono depending on the color
mode setting on the device. To ensure copy jobs are tracked correctly, set the
color mode to Auto on the device.

D60719-10 19
2 SafeCom Go Samsung

Drivers: When pull printing, the SafeCom solution will compare the driver name
embedded in the print job with its list of driver names. If no match is found the
document will appear with a question mark [?] in the document list (3.4). This
way the user is warned that fidelity is low and the document may print
incorrectly.

Timeout: The user is automatically logged out after the device is idle for a
period of time. The default is 60 seconds, with a configurable range between
10-7200 seconds. If the device requires intervention (IRQ), because it has run
out of paper, for example, the timer is paused.

Note: Timeout specified here also sets the timeout of the device web page.

Post track: Select to enable post tracking. This is only relevant with SafeCom
Tracking. Refer to SafeCom G4 Administrator’s Manual D60650

High speed print: Select to allow faster printing. The speed is comparable to
that of printing a document directly to a device. High speed print works best in
environments where all users only use pull print.

Encryption section

Use the Encryption section to configure max length of encryption keys (2.7.9).
Restart the device for changes to take effect.

Restore factory default resets all settings, except the password, back to their
default values (2.7.15.)

D60719-10 20
2 SafeCom Go Samsung

E-mail section – A4 models only

The E-mail section is relevant if SafeCom handles access control for E-mail
(2.7.8) on A4 models.

In the from: and to: fields the User e-mail is prefilled. Both e-mail addresses
can be changed if necessary.

A prefilled e-mail sent from John Smith (e-mail address [email protected]) looks
like this:

From: John Smith <[email protected]>

Check Force BCC to user to pre-fill the BCC field with the user’s e-mail
address.

2.6.3 Information web page

The Information web page shows version, configuration summary and uptime.

To report a bug, use Mail to SafeCom Support [email protected].

Tell us what the problem is, including a step-by-step description, so SafeCom
Support can reproduce it.

Note: When the Information web page is open the above information and
additional debug information are automatically copied to the clipboard. The
information can be pasted into an editor such as Notepad or into the body of
your e-mail message by pressing CTRL+ V.

2 SafeCom Go Samsung

2.6.4 Register web page

the SafeCom Go Samsung software was not installed via the SafeCom
Administrator.

To register the device:

1. Enter the User logon and PIN code of a user with Technician or
Administrator rights. The user must have a PIN code.
2. Click Register.

The device can also be registered with the SafeCom solution by:

 Using the Add device function in SafeCom Administrator.

 Log in at the device by a user with Technician or Administrator rights.

D60719-10 22
2 SafeCom Go Samsung

2.6.5 Log web page

The Log web page allows enabling, disabling and viewing of logging
information.

Note: The device will always log performance data (network latency,
authentication duration of successful logins, number of Out of order
occurrences and duration, failover and failback between G4 servers, device
reboots, changes in firmware and Go versions).

Logging should only be enabled if advised to do so as part of a troubleshooting

process.

1. Click Enable to start logging.

2. Click Disable to stop logging (text changes on the button).

If the device has a hard disk logging data will be written to the hard disk for
best performance. When the log file reaches the 2 MB maximum the log file is
overwritten with new data.

If Upload log to server is enabled the device will upload the log to the server
once an hour. The feature should only be enabled as per instruction by
SafeCom Support. If the device is unable to upload to the server, the device

5 Troubleshooting

5 Troubleshooting
5.1 Introduction
This chapter contains troubleshooting hints for the SafeCom Go Samsung
product. Additional troubleshooting hints are available in the Troubleshooting
chapter in SafeCom G4 Administrator’s Manual D60650.

5.2 SafeCom Go Samsung device trace facility

Use the Mail to SafeCom Support button on the SafeCom Go Samsung
Information web page (2.6.3) to collect information from the device, such as
device firmware version and last device states.

Use the SafeCom Go Samsung log only if SafeCom Support instructs you to do
so. The log facility is enabled on the SafeCom Go Samsung Log web page
(2.6.5).

5.3 SafeCom Help Desk Assistant

We want your SafeCom solution to be one that reduces not only print costs, but
is also easy to support. In the following you will find useful troubleshoot hints.
The most common problems reported by end-users have been compiled into an
online SafeCom Help Desk Assistant available at safecom.eu/help

5.4 HTTP response! cc = 401

If you get the error message "Error in HTTP response! cc = 401" when updating
the SafeCom software, you have entered the wrong password. Wait 3 minutes
before trying again. During this period it is not possible to log in to the device
page.

5.5 Device web page is displayed incorrectly

If the SafeCom GO Samsung configuration web page is not displayed correctly in
Windows Internet Explorer 8 or 9, turn on Compatibiltiy View.

5.6 At the printer: Error message "The UI is not

being displayed correctly"
This message might appear when a user taps an icon other than Pull Print to
start the login process with user code or Windows credentials. To resolve this:

1. Click Cancel to the error message.

5 Troubleshooting

5.7 At the printer: Login service not available

This message is displayed when communication is lost between the device and
the SafeCom server. Check the following:

 If you experience problems after consecutive loads of the SafeCom Go

Samsung software to a Samsung device then power cycle the Samsung
device.
 Does the Configuration web page (2.7.2) reference a SafeCom server and
is the IP address and Group name correct?
 Is the SafeCom Service running on the SafeCom server?
 Is the network down?
 Is there a firewall blocking the communication?
 Is the device connected to the network?

The message is cleared and the device returns to normal operation by itself a
couple of minutes after communication is restored.

5.8 At the printer: User unknown

The used card (or entered user code) is unknown. Make sure the card is
registered (3.1).

5.9 At the printer: Login denied

 Wrong PIN code.
 The device is not registered.
 Too many consecutive failed login attempts has caused Prevent login to
be checked on the Identification tab in the User properties dialog.

If none of the above accounts for the message it could be because the Windows
system on the SafeCom server does not allow any more connections. If you also
get the message “Connection error. Login failed” when you try to login to
SafeCom Administrator, then you should restart the computer.

5.10 At the printer: Restricted access

 The user is not allowed to use the device.
 A Pay user is trying to log in and Pay is not selected on the License tab in
the Device properties dialog.

5.11 At the printer: Error printing document

 Pull Print is cleared on the License tab in the Device properties dialog.
 Pull Print is cleared on the Settings tab in the Device properties dialog.

D60719-10 43
5 Troubleshooting

5.12 At the printer: Question mark before the

document name
The list of supported device drivers does not include an entry matching the
driver you used. Use the web browser to add the driver name to the list.

5.13 At the printer: Login error <number>

 Is the SafeCom Service running on the SafeCom server?
 Is the SafeCom device registered at the SafeCom server?

5.14 At the printer: Card reading not working

 Is the card reader firmly connected?
 Is the card compatible with the reader?
 Is the correct card reader patch installed?
 Try moving the card reader away from the device to check if it is an
electrical interference preventing the reader from working.

5.15 Tracking information

The format of the tracking data is documented in SafeCom G4 Administrator’s
Manual D60650.

If an attempt is made to disconnect or otherwise tamper with device to avoid

tracking, then print jobs are recorded as “Interrupted” instead of
“Completed.” Canceled documents are also tracked as Interrupted.
