Chapter 1 Pr2

The document is a chapter from a research paper about senior high school students' perceptions of teenage pregnancy. It introduces the topic of teenage pregnancy and its impacts. It establishes the problem statement, hypothesis, and research questions which aim to understand the factors influencing students' perceptions, how early pregnancy affects teenagers, reasons for teenage pregnancy, perspectives on the issue, and ways to prevent it. The theoretical framework discusses how Schlossberg's transition theory and its 4 S concepts can help explain the situation. The study aims to benefit parents, students, and future researchers. It is limited to surveying grade 11-12 students at one school. Key terms are defined related to contraception, pregnancy, teenage pregnancy, and abortion.

PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Teenage pregnancy is defined as a teenage girl, usually within the ages of 13-19,

We all know that teenage years is the most risky part of our lives we all want to
explore and discover such things and we are also easily influenced by the people

learn and also have a better future. But if we're lack of knowledge and guidance these
might cause to some problems like teenage pregnancy. As a teenager and a senior
highschool student we have witness a lot of situations connected to this problem.
And there's a lot of possible reasons why theres a lot of teenager facing thing kind of
problem at the young age. Some of these are the lack of guidance of their parents,
another one is the lack of knowledge in sex education. Leading them to go through
these things without thinking the possible outcome.

Moreover, this research will determine the perception of the teenagers about this social
problem in this present time. Associated with both sides, positive and negative impacts
to different aspects of people’s live.

Perception of SHS Students about Teenage Pregnancies . Therefore, the researchers
would like to answer the following questions.

1.How does early pregnancy affect a teenager?

2.What are the possible reason why most teens get pregnat at very young age?

3.What is your prespective about teenage pregnancy?

4.What can be possible way to avoid teenage pregnancy?

5.Why is itnecessary to implement sex education in terms of:

5.1 Family Planning

5.2 Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

HYPOTHESIS
SHS STUDENTS PERCEPTION ABOUT
The researchers conclusion about the outcome of the
TEENAGE conducted research.
PREGNANCY

The growing rate of teenage pregnancy affects negatively to the perception of the
senior highschool students about it.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
IV-DV

The analysis of the lived experiences of pregnant adolescents and adolescent mothers and the
strategies they utilized during their transition to early motherhood resulted in four key themes;
news of pregnancy, adolescent motherhood, social support, and coping strategies. Overall, the
four themes that emerged from this study depict pregnant adolescents and adolescent mothers
shared and lived experiences transitioning into motherhood. The key themes reflect their
experiences, what social support systems exist for adolescents and what coping strategies
adolescents explore during their transition into early motherhood. ( Gbogbo, 2020). Another
study on the topic by Goodman et al.(2006) there are four main sets of elements that influence
an individual’s capability to cope during a transition period. These are situation, self, support,
and strategies, which are also known as the 4 S’s.

This study was based on Schlossberg’s Transition Theory

consequently, the 4 S’s described by can be utilized
to TEENAGE PREGNANCY answer the questions of the situation in which the
adolescent women in this study found themselves,
the social support available to them, how their personal
and demographic characteristics affect, how they view
life, and how they cope with early motherhood.(Evans et al., 2010). On the other hand this
theory has a big effects on the societies perception about the teenager facing this kid of
problem or situation. It also became an eye opener to the people to see how hard teenage
pregnancies for them to more careful and mindful of the things that they do because it might
affect not just their physical health but also their mental health.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Facilitate the establishment of adult-teenage communication programmes with guidelines to

give adults information and communicate effectively with young people about reducing risky
behaviour.

PARENTS: Parents will understand that value of guidance especially to the youth, for their
safety and future.

STUDENTS: this study gives them more knowledge to be aware about early pregnancies effect
not only to their health but also to their family and future.
FUTURE RESEARCHERS: this study can be an reliable sources to the future reseach and can also
be improved by the next generation.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The general intent of this study is to know the perception of the Immaculate Conception
International students about the growing cases of teenage pregnancy. This study will mainly
identify the effects of teenage pregnancy to the teen like them. By also conducting this study
we will see how severe teenage pregnancy in our generation that caused it to become a
national problem. Nevertheless, this study will be delimited as it only focus in all Grade 11 and
