Activity 1: How can the following UM graduate attributes be demonstrated in your
chosen career? e.g. Critical thinking in Teaching (if you are taking up BEED or BSED
program). Your explanation should be very specific to your program or career choice.
Critical Thinking and Problem-solving skills.
CPAs must have the ability to carry out abstract logical thinking and understanding
critical thinking. Discovery of a rule or principle underlying the relationship between two
or more objects and applying it when solving a problem.
Communication skills.
CPAs must demonstrate skills such as the ability to verbally and or in writing explain
financial/statistical/administrative matters/policies/procedures/regulatory matters/audit
results at a level appropriate to the audience. Ask clear, concise and relevant questions
to obtain desired information and negotiate effectively.
Interpersonal Skills.
CPAs must have the ability to work in groups and being a team player. Participate as a
member and contributing to the group effort, teaching others new skills, working to
satisfy clients’ expectation.
Digital literacy skills.
CPAs not only being conversant with IT concepts for business systems but sound
knowledge on internal control in computer-based systems, development standards and
practice for business systems, and managing the security of information.
BOTTOM LINE
1. How will you demonstrate the University’s 4Gs in your chosen program/career?
Since the objectives of the accountancy profession are to work in accordance
with the highest standards of professionalism, to attain the higher level of
performance and generally to meet the public interest, the need for CPAs to
conform to the ethical standards of the profession become vital. These include
the University’s 4G, confidentiality, and due care.
