The second semester has been the most awaited time for Sillimanians, especially me,

as it is the time for the Intramurals week wherein everyone is free to join the different
field of sports. But in the midst of this VOVID-19 pandemic, it would be impossible for a
face-to-face Intramural game. The emergence of COVID-19 pandemic has led to a
dramatic change in our life. The global outbreak has heavily impacted the schools and
sports industry and in many ways, paralysed by the pandemic. Face-to-face matches
and competitions in schools (Intrams) have been cancelled resulting for everyone to
shift in virtual games or e-games, just like the Silliman University did.
Honestly, at first, I was kind of sad because of the fact that we have the pandemic which
makes it impossible to hold an Intramurals week but when I discovered that it would be
held online (E-Trams), I was so happy. And today, April 5, 2021, marked the grand
opening of the first ever online/virtual intramurals (E-Trams). Since elementary, I
always look forward for Intramurals not because of the idea of joining the games but
because I get to witness a lot of talented and skilful players in different fields of sports
and most interestingly the “lightning of the torch” which signifies the opening of the
Intramurals week. Before the opening started, I have already convinced myself that this
Intramurals will not have the “lightning of the torch” because of the fact that we only do
the opening virtually. But I was totally wrong, I was amazed and overwhelmed because
when the opening started, it brought me back to the time when everything was still fine,
wherein we get to cheer for our departmental players face-to-face, shout for joy
because the Intramurals has been opened, and get along with friends to watch a
student running throughout the gymnasium to light the torch. Eventhough, the lightning
of the torch today was done through the use of Roblox, I was still really happy,
especially that the gymnasium that was presented was really like the Silliman Gym and
it just give me chills seeing that avatar running throughout the gym to light the torch just
like old times.
