 Editing
When editing a text , only the structure of writing is corrected.
These are minor changes that include

 Spelling
 Grammar
 Punctuation
 Sentence structure

When editing, overall text remains exactly the same – writer

simply fixing mistakes he has made while writing it, such as
typos, grammar errors, and spelling mistakes
Even if someone is a great writer, mistakes happen. He do not
want to let a simple mistake stop his text from being
published!

 Editing
When revising a text, writer should change the meaning or way
in which the reader perceives, experiences and interprets it.
This can be accomplished by:

 adding new thoughts

 clarifying existing thoughts
 choosing more descriptive words
 improving overall understanding of ideas presented
 enhancing character development
 adding more detail
 eliminating unnecessary elements

When revising a text, writer is literally conducting a re-VISION

of his previous work to make his text stronger and improve
clarity to reader.s.
During the revision process, it is usually a good idea to make
sure your writing style  matches the goal and purpose of your
written piece. Depending on what you may be writing, you will
want to make sure your writing contains all the necessary
elements to effectively convey your message.

Some important strategies

 Review In Stages.Check spelling. Then sentence structure.
Then word choice. Then punctuation. And so on. If you try to
identify and fix too much at once, you risk losing focus, and
your review will be less effective.
 Read Aloud. It will help to understand text how it is sounding.
l
 Take Regular Breaks. It’s tough to maintain focus on detail-
oriented work for more than 30 minutes at a time. Schedule
breaks before your attention wanes.
 Interact with the Text. Circle confirmed punctuation or place
checkmarks next to paragraphs you’ve checked.
 Change It Up. If your review is focused on substance, try
changing the size, spacing, color, or style of the text so it
feels different or unfamiliar.
 Review Backward. Review one paragraph at a time in
reverse order, starting with the last paragraph.
 Take a break. You are proud of what you wrote, but you
might be too close to it to make changes. Set aside your
writing for a few hours or even a day until you can look at it
objectively.
 Ask someone you trust for feedback and constructive
criticism.
 Pretend you are one of your readers. Are you satisfied or
dissatisfied? Why?
 Use the resources that your college provides. Find out where
your school’s writing lab is located and ask about the
assistance they provide online and in person.
