Class Rules & Expectations

Modern World Studies

Welcome! We want our live sessions to be an exciting, safe and interactive

learning environment for ALL students. Insight School of CA is a place where
students challenge themselves, think outside the box, grow in wisdom and
character and have fun!
To maintain this environment, please adhere to these rules. This is for your
benefit. If you have any questions, please email your teacher for further
clarification.

1. It is mandatory to attend ALL Live Sessions. Just like in regular school, you are expected to go to
class every day. The same principle is applied here at Insight. Points will be docked if you have
an unexcused absence.

2. Whiteboard Tools and Polling Tools must be used appropriately during the Live Sessions. Failure
to comply will result in the privileges of the Live Session being taken away for that day. The
privileges are the Chat box and Whiteboard tools.

3. Profanity (even if abbreviated ex: wtf, lmao…), racial slurs, name-calling, derogatory and/or
inappropriate words are NOT tolerated in the Chatbox during Live Sessions. Students who
violate this rule will lose chat privileges for the rest of the Live Session. If this happens a second
time, the teacher will call home to inform the Learning Coach of the inappropriate behavior. The
student’s Academic Advisor will be notified as well. If this continues, more measures will be
taken and the student will lose their Chatbox privileges for an extended period of time.

4. When emailing your teacher use this format:

Mr./Mrs. (Teacher’s Name),
(Your question or concern typed here)
Sincerely,
(Your name and ID#)

And always put a subject in the subject line of the email! Appropriate and respectful language
must be used when emailing your teacher. Just like in the workplace, you want to sound
professional. The same principle applies when you converse with your teachers. It is important
to read your emails every day.

5. When texting your teacher use this format:

A Greeting with your first and last name
Your question or concern

Texts received past 5pm will be answered the following day. Texts sent on the weekend
will receive a response the following Monday.

6. It is your responsibility to reach out for help. The help is available every day, multiple times a
day. If you don’t understand an assignment, you need to either call, text or email us your
question and we will help you! There should be no excuse for missing or incomplete work.

7. Academic Plagiarism is copying and/or paraphrasing a text/phrase/paragraph/sentence that is

written by someone else and used as your own. This is NOT tolerated and is a serious offense.
Students who commit plagiarism for the first time will receive a ZERO on the assignment with
the chance of redoing it. Parents, Learning Coaches and Academic Advisors will be notified.
Students who commit plagiarism a second time will not have the opportunity to redo the
assignment and will have a zero. For the second offense, more measures will be taken.
