General Procedures:

- As students enter my classroom, they are required to immediately take their

seats. Once everyone is settled in, we will begin with a video on the News in the
U.S government. This will consist in a brief video, produced by a major news
channel, which sums up the news in the US government. Immediately after the
video we will have a brief discussion. This will help students see how what they
are learning, most often, relates to the news in the US government. For every
class, three things are required: writing utensil, notebook, a copy of the US
constitution, and the class textbook. Then, as soon as the discussion is over, we
will begin class for today. Most of the time, I will be utilizing a PowerPoint. At
some point during my lecture, I will ask my students to consider a question, and
discuss with their partners (he/she will be right next to him). The ending of class,
after the teacher has concluded his lecture, students will be required to complete
an exit ticket. This can be answering a question, verbally responding to a
question, or mentioning a takeaway of the lesson to the teacher on his way out
the door.

Seat-work and Instruction Procedures

- As the teacher, or one of the students has been given the floor, no one else is
allowed to talk. Simple, right? If, during the lecture, questions arise, the students
must raise his hand and wait to be called on by the teacher. If, during a group
activity, a student’s needs assistance from the teacher, they must also raise their
hand and wait until the teacher comes to help. Students are not allowed to be out
of their seats during a lecture. This includes, pencil sharpening, bathroom, and
talking with others. After the teacher has assigned work to be completed during
the class, and students have completed it, they must also work on missing
assignments, and the year-long project, which will be assigned on the first day of
class.
Student Group Work
- Students must show respect for themselves, their peers, and their instructor. This
includes, and not limited to, not talking while others are talking, use academically
appropriate vocabulary, and dress according to school dress code.
Managing student work
- Homework and test submissions will be graded as soon as the teacher can. Late
work, however, will not be accepted after one week, after which a 10% deduction
will be implemented. I will not hand out graded work but will rather leave it in an
assigned portfolio for each individual student. If academic, or disciplinary
performance in my class is below the school’s expectation, I will speak directly to
the student to seek a solution. If, after having consulted with the student, there is
no sin of improvement, parents will be contacted.
