Trade Information:

Vessel’s phase in upper Bay of Bengal service trading between Chittagong–Colombo. Current
Voyage number is 100 N. Voyage number changes every Colombo.

Safety:

Safety officer : Chief Officer / 2nd Eng (alternative month)

Security:

SSO : Master. All security related items are under his custody.

All Firefighting equipment’s & Lifesaving appliances to be kept inside store before arrival
Chittagong. 6 shore based watchmen are appointed in Chittagong for patrol to prevent pilferage /
stowaways.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIRD OFFICER

Third officers responsible for “Safe and efficient operations, in accordance with the Master's &
Chief Officers instructions, relevant legislation, and the Company's procedure “.

PERSONAL – 04. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIRD OFFICER

PORT PAPERS

Presently vessel trading between Chittagong & Colombo. You are responsible for preparing all
papers required for clearing the vessel on arrival. Information about what papers are to be
prepared for the ports in this route are located in your 3/OFF folder. There is also one additional
file in clearance folder “port required document” with additional info about each port. Prepare
pre-arrival papers well in advance as captain is sending them through e-mail to agents. Specific
details regarding port papers and handling and authorities will be handed over in person once
onboard.

LSA / FFA

Free fall Life Boat and Rescue Boat:

Capacity – 30 persons
Free fall life boat & Rescue boat Annually Inspection Carried out on 21 Oct 2020 and
5-Yearly Davits Load Tested On 18 Nov 2019.
Free fall life boat Last Lowered and Maneuvered in Water On The 27.11.20.
Rescue boat lowered in the water: 27 Jan 2021.

Lifejackets
Vessel Have 40 Lifejackets According to Safety Equipment Certificate. Individual Lifejackets
Are Kept in Their Respective Cabins and on Bridge (2 Nos), Ecr (2 No’s), Rescue boat crew (6
No’s) that are kept in officer mess room and in The Forepeak Store (2 no’s). Over weight
L/Jacket-01 no, child lifejacket -02 nos. All life jacket lights are within expiry dates.
Lifebuoys
Vessels have 15 Lifebuoys On Board. Out of This 8 Are Attached with SI Lights and line and 2
out Of This Have Buoyant Smoke Signals. 3 lifebuoys without attachments. And 2 lifebuoys
with line. The SI Lights Use Normal Flash Light Batteries and Spares for The Same Are Inside
The LSA/FFA Locker.
Requisition have been already raised IN DNV GL for batteries.

Immersion Suits
Vessel Have 40 Immersion Suits On Board. Individual Immersion Suites Are Kept in Their
Respective Cabins and on Bridge (2 No’s), Ecr (2 No’s), Rescue boat crew (6 No’s) that are kept
in officer mess room and in the Forepeak Store (2nos). All immersion suit which to be worn with
the Life Jacket over it. Onboard test kit available is kept inside LSA/FFA locker in upper deck.

Life Rafts
Vessel has 5 No Life Raft onboard. Annual Inspection of life raft is due on 17-May-2021.Service
requisition to be made in GL 2 months prior. The Port Side and Stbd Side Life Rafts (2nos Each)
Have A Capacity Of 16 Persons Each, Same Life Rafts Have Connected With HRU And The
Forward Life Raft Has A Capacity Of 6 Persons Secured Without Hru. The Embarkation Ladder
Kept Near the Life Raft The Date Of Expiry Of Hru’s Are Sep 2022.

Pyrotechnics
12 Rocket Parachutes Are On The Bridge. Expiry: May 2021.
The Lifeboat Pyrotechnics Are Stored In The Respective Lifeboats. That Is, 6 Hand Flares, 4
Rocket Parachutes And 2 Buoyant Smokes In Lifeboat. Expiry:April 2021
We Have 4 Line Throwing Appliances On Bridge. Expiry of LTA in AUG 2021.

SART
We Have 2 Search And Rescue Radar Transponders On Board. One Located In
The Bridge and other in lifeboat. Expiry Dates of sart battery is 24 June 2023.

EPIRB
The Epirb Is Located On the Port Side Bridge Wing.
The Expiry Dates of the Epirb Battery Aug-2023. Epirb Hru expires on Sep 2022.

Survival Craft Vhf


The 3 Survival Craft Vhf Are Located On the Bridge Along with Their Batteries. The Vhf Is
Usually Kept Plugged into The Charger.

SCBA
Onboard there are 8 no of BA sets out of which 2 are for firefighting kept in accommodation (1
in 3rd deck port side store & other in LSA/FFA locker.
Other 6 nos are required for DG DOC compliance which are kept in bosun store fwd. And total
24 no’s spare SCBA bottles
Five early shore inspections were done in Feb 2018.

EEBD
There are 13 Nos. of EEBD. Bridge (3 No’s) 3rd deck (1 No’s) fire locker (1 no’s) engine room
(8 no’s).

FIRE EXTINGUISHER
There are 3 types of fire extinguisher onboard are as follows:
1) DCP Type Extinguisher (6 Kg) -32 No’s
2) DCP Type Extinguisher (50 Kg) -6 No’s
3) CO2 Type Extinguisher (5 Kg) -14 No’s
4) Foam Type Extinguisher (9 Ltr) -13 No’s

Portable B.A. Compressor


Onboard there is 1 No’s if breathing air compressor to charge SCBA bottles, located at
emergency generator room. Air quality check is done on 06 Feb 2021.

Fixed CO2 Fire System.


Co2 major fire fighting system is installed for engine room and cargo holds. In addition, ME
scavenge space, Ships Galley and Emergency generator room also provided with separate CO2
fire extinguishing system.
Operation procedures have been posted accordingly. Cargo hold smoke detection system
display/alarm is fitted in wheel house and CO2 room.CO2 alarms being tested regularly.

Hyper mist fixed local fire extinguishing system


Water mist system is provided for the generators, incinerator, purifier room, main Engine
machineries below. This system can be operated individually from three positions. Local.
Remote and pump side operation

Safety Inspection
Every week you have to conduct safety inspection of LSA’s as per SOLAS Chap III-B Reg 20.6
and Reg 20.7 for monthly inspection. Then you make proper entries in the logbook under safety
records.

Safety drills

All Drills has to be carried out as per GL – ship manager, Hard copies of drill reports maintained
for quick reference and for inspections, as per company’s procedure soft copies of all drill
reports has to be attached in GL in word format and photos in pdf format of relevant drills.
Security drills hard copy need to update in SSO working file.

Will explain GL pms and safety tasks once onboard. Import file we receive every day we were
sending the export file via mail.

Karco
Vessel is using computer based training program KARCO. All crew to view video by using their
log in Id & Pass word. After viewing video, they have to complete an assessment of same. The
report of all training to be generated at every month end and sent to KARCO by email. found in
KARCO You will also receive IMPORT file from KARCO every month which is to be
downloaded in ship’s KARCO system.

Individual login for each account is your CDC Number.
CREW MATTERS

IMO crew lists to be updated in the Fire Plan box outside accommodation and in the Log Book
after each crew change. Also you should prepare door cards and ID’s for new joiners and do their
induction (safety familiarization). Whenever there is crew change you must perform On-Board
familiarization. It’s called induction record sheet CL-01 for the new crewmembers, help them be
familiar around the vessel and show all safety equipment, safety equipment lockers, muster
station, their assigned life boats in accordance with the Muster List, emergency fire pump etc.

ACCOUNTS

1. Bond Account: You are responsible for ship bond accounts. Generally, we order bond items
in Colombo which are comparatively cheaper than Chittagong. Will handover bond stores and
procedure once onboard.

2. Club Account: 2ND Mate is responsible for ship club account. Any deduction from club
account money shall be recorded with invoices.

3. Provision for provision you have to help Ch. Cook and master for order of provision and for
month end account of Garrets provision statement.

4.Month End accounts: To assist master in preparing month end salary accounts and
allotments.
General Items

1. Cabin keys and bond store keys will handover onboard.


2. Port Authority Handling requirements will be handed over in Port paper file.
