GE 20 2nd Exam Film Analysis

The short film "My Shoes" tells the story of two boys with different circumstances who magically switch roles. The film begins by contrasting a poorly dressed, sad boy with a well-off boy in nice clothes who seems content. The unfortunate boy wishes to switch places with the well-off boy, and suddenly their roles change. However, it becomes clear the grass is not greener when the relative of the formerly well-off boy arrives with a wheelchair. The film's message is that true happiness comes from appreciating what you have rather than envying others, and difficulties are a normal part of life.

The short film " My shoes": A fable about life's appearances, by Nima Raoofi is a true

depiction of great values of life. The entire film is focused on the two boys with different
conditions wherein it started with a not that well-off boy wearing his frayed trousers, tattered
pants, and tattered shoes (probably interjecting the title of the film) while sitting on a side
bench of a park and swinging his feet. This scenario is contemplated with a piece of melancholy
music that is blended with the laughing sound of the people in which it made me think of an
eerie feeling especially when the boy looks over into the water of that little bridge, it somewhat
gave me the idea of a worst-case scenario with the fact that the boy looks sad and dissatisfied
with himself wherein it ponders the profound impact of how society influences young people.
Meanwhile, there is this another boy perfectly dressed up and well presented with his shiny
sturdy shoes and wearing his perfect smile all over his faces that resembles contentment with
his life which is opposite with the first unfortunate boy.

As the film progresses, the unfortunate boy seems to have a desirous and desperate
feeling to be like that well-off boy wherein he utters with his mouth a kind of a wish then
suddenly, the boys magically switch roles. This event is kind of a bit weird with unpredictable
fairytale happened just like when Cinderella's Fairy godmother transformed her dress into a
beautiful gown. Just then, the film drives a climactic turn of events wherein the relative of the
well-off boy comes wheeling a wheelchair to pick him up. I can see a discernment of confusion
in the boy's face and regretting making that wish while the other boy is relishing the freedom
that he can be able to walk again. In the finale, he was trying to wish it back as he was sitting in
the wheelchair.

The film is quite surprising in which I didn't see the outcome coming, but if you see the
message, the switch will be understood. Every particular moment in the short film comprised of
various emotions particularly the overwhelming empathy. We have to deal with our struggles
and life gives us our shoes just for nothing. Experiencing difficulties in the present doesn't mean
we should stop there and envy the life of the other people. Put your shoes and the shoes of
others then you'll see how much privilege you are than them, so in life, we just have to realize
that we are blessed for everything we enjoy, is something others were aspiring to live for but
they just can't. Life may seem unfair, reflect in see the deeper souls behind those smiles they
wear, behind those you think a good life they possess because what we think is not what others
see for themselves they are struggling too. Our limited understanding of what we see and what
we hear from the judgments of others drives us to oblivion but the thought that we may be
happy living like the other. Thus, happiness is within and it is what we sought in our deeper
souls. We conduce to overlook that happiness doesn't arise from receiving something we don't
have, but rather of appreciating what we do have. Sometimes, what we least have would give
us the genuine happiness that we want, and what we much would make us less capable of
living a happier life.
