Kahoot Lesson Plan

Students will practice for an upcoming test by playing a Kahoot game to review key vocabulary and concepts. They will define terms and create a Boolean search in Google Docs. Student Learning Objective(s) and Related Assessment(s):

Learning Target: Students will be able to successfully complete the Carousel of

Progress test by practicing with a Kahoot. This means that students will have a low stakes
opportunity to practice and ask/clarify the questions before the tests. Students will also be able to
define and create a Boolean search. This means that students will have the opportunity to create a
Boolean search for practice in a google doc.

Language Objective: Students will be able to define vocabulary and identify key terms.
This will be accomplished through some pre-teaching and the kahoot.

Standard(s):
● Integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information presented in different media or
formats (for example: visually, quantitatively) as well as in words in order to address a
question or solve a problem. (CCSS: RI.11-12.7)
● Determine two or more central ideas of a text and analyze their development over the
course of the text, including how they interact and build on one another to provide a
complex analysis; provide an objective summary of the text. (CCSS: RI.11-12.2)
● Analyze a complex set of ideas or sequence of events and explain how specific
individuals, ideas, or events interact and develop over the course of the text. (CCSS:
RI.11-12.3)

Materials/Resources:
● Device for Kahoot
● Webcam
● Access to Teams class
● Access to Slides
Learning Activities:
Initiation:
● Students will be introduced to the objectives of the lesson. (3 minutes)
● Students will then be given review on key vocabulary. (5 minutes)
○ Students will be given tips to remember the distinctions here in order to
help them with the test. They will be given practice for this in the
upcoming Kahoot. It is important that they know this information to move
forward in their analyzing skills.

Lesson Development:
● Students will set up for the Kahoot (5 minutes)
○ Students will be taking this Kahoot individually and will be asked prior to
this lesson to have a separate device ready. If they do not have a separate
device, suggest a screen split between the Teams call and the Kahoot.
● Students will participate in the Kahoot. (20 minutes)
○ This Kahoot will give students the opportunity to practice their vocabulary
and analyzing skills in a low stakes format. Students will be able to ask
questions and get clarification in the usage.
○ Instruction should be given after every question to assist students in their
understanding of the content.
○ Use this as a moment to connect with students and engage them in friendly
competition with their classmates.

Closure:
● Students will be given a quick review of the key content to take away from the
Kahoot (5 minutes)
○ This helps students solidify their understanding of the content and allows
to reiterate the importance.
● Students will then be asked to complete an Exit Ticket (5 minutes)
○ Students will be asked to submit their own Boolean search in a document.
This will help them familiarize themselves with the format of a Boolean
search for their test.

Individuals Needing Differentiated Instruction:

Students who are hard-of-hearing or deaf will be given an interpreter as well as have access to
any and all of the documents shared in class. Students will also be able to hear the questions of
the Kahoot being said and will be able to read them as well.
