The company
The business proposal is based on an online start-up south Asian café. This is a startup
business. A southern Asian cafe more specifically, a Srilankan café. According to previous
researches, there is no such online café with Srilankan theme. Hence, there is no major
competitor as well. We plan on being the first. Many online cafes are not up to the mark,
quality-wise the delivered food is terrible and not up to the mark, they have gone to such
cheap lengths to cut down where possible.
Market analysis
In business, no one will ever be as concerned with the business as the owner. If you
are not interested in running the online cafe, no one you hire will be more conscientious. So
basically you either have to have a formulaic business where everything is well defined and
there is little or no decision making (franchises might fit this model) or you have to be
heavily involved in building those online processes in the first few years at least. Note too
that online restaurants are very risky and rarely give a good return on investment without a
very large investment. IF you participate in the business then you may make some money by
effectively taking a salary (it will be in the form of owner draws, we found out that the owner
can’t take a salary unless the business is a full C Corp) (Burrow, 2011). But if you have to
pay someone else that salary to run the business then you can count on at most 20% profit,
and it’s more likely to be much less than that. Note this is profit before taxes, capital
expenditures, and interest payments, so it’s not “Profit” you can necessarily put in your
pocket.
The best way to start your own online café that delivers food at the doorstep these
days are to buy a franchise of a good company when you buy into a franchise, you buy a
proven system with a way of doing business. The franchisee has solved the trap and
established a solid foundation for easy dissemination. Everything from marketing to products
to site selection and distributors has been approved to help you get started (Chang, 2017).
Eliminate guesswork or errors you might encounter otherwise. Franchise brings you the
support of franchisees. This built-in support system means you can always get the phone and
get the help you need. Franchisers often supervise brands, suppliers, advertising and
marketing, and bring the purchasing power of established networks. Using many franchise
systems, you can not only get support from the franchise headquarters but also build
relationships with other franchise owners. What is better than doing business with a brand
that customers already know, trust, and love? In the minds of consumers, the brand usually
equals reputation. Therefore, joining a well-known franchise company that has established a
good corporate image means that you will start with a customer base that is already familiar
with your business and benefits from the knowledge and experience of successful brands. The
best franchise I can recommend to you one day is in the dining area. For many reasons, they
are franchise. Low cost and less start-up space are two important features in this regard.
Any business is worthwhile if you have the passion and drive to build it into the best
business you can. It doesn't matter what kind of business it is; the fundamentals stay the
same. Here are a few strategies to get the juices flowing. Develop systems that ensure every
job your business does is thorough and is done with a high level of care. People will notice
you or your staff placing breakables of small objects out of harm’s way before starting, for
example. And make sure you do not miss any out of the way corners or difficult to reach
surfaces. Try to come up with "little extras" that can set you apart. Thinking of something
like leaving a few quality chocolates with a hand-written thank you card on a table once the
job is done. It’s amazing what a little extra effort will do for your reputation. Make sure that
every customer is treated very well and anticipate picky, pedantic customers. Your happy
customers will be your best marketing channel.
Follow up after the job to get feedback on the customer’s experience. Deal with
negative feedback quickly and efficiently. If you have people working for you, look after
them well. They are the face of your business and their attitude, work ethic, and
thoughtfulness will make or break your business. They need to be (comparatively) well paid,
motivated, trained, and, most importantly, must feel as though they have a stake in the
success of the business that is more than just a paycheck at the end of the week. Like any
business, watch your cash flow, borrow as little as possible, and manage your resources well.
No matter how well you're doing on the front line, if the business itself is not well run, it's a
sinking ship. In a business like this, make sure you have insurance to cover damage to
customer possessions. Breaking an expensive vase could land you in hot water and could sink
your business (Guryčová, 2017). It is advised against competing against competitors on price
- it's a zero-sum game. Focus more on a premium (but still affordable) service by doing
everything better than most of your competition. Make sure you are online (with a website)
and encourage people to rate your service on sites like Yelp. If you get a bad review deal with
it professionally. Your competitors will most probably try to slag you off by submitting false
negative reviews, especially if you take business away from them, but every negative review
is an opportunity to show how you can handle bad situations, which will help you in the long
run.
Marketing strategies
Media is the utmost tool that serves vitality to an abstract idea and spreads awareness
among it. For the following campaign, various kiosks must be installed at chief public places
such as outside the malls, subway stations or bus stops, and via the lens of a camera, reactions
would be captured and recorded. The following recording would create hype on media as
people would be showcasing warm welcome and acceptance to the most café.
1. Craigslist: The key is to set your ad different than the rest -from the name to
the content inside. Be transparent and present yourself as a great value to those
viewing the ad. I’ve gotten hits from daycares, trucking companies, and
restaurants. So the reach is diverse.
2. Fliers: Distribute marketing materials to nearby businesses that fit your
audience types. Include with the flier’s other types of marketing materials as
well -for larger businesses especially, they will want to see examples of your
work to get an idea of whether you’re a good fit for them (Jain, et al., 2000).
3. Cold Calling: Unlike residential services, where this type of marketing is
highly frowned upon, in commercial, it's an awesome means to reach out
directly and get a solid understanding of the business is looking for your
services, whether they are happy with their current funding processes, etc.
Make sure you use a fluid script though and practice. Be prepared to offer basic
rebuttals -as the general rule is you’ll get no before yes.
Organizational structure
It is difficult for a new venture to define its organizational structure, and many
elements in the company structure cannot be correctly identified and analyzed. The company
structure helps the company determine the hierarchy in which roles, responsibilities, and
controls are defined. It outlines who reports to whom and who is responsible for what. It is
usually recorded and shared in the form of an organization chart, including job title and
reporting structure. Companies can be organized in many ways: departments, functional
departments and geographic locations can be built around or using a matrix method: Human
resources, marketing, etc. revolve around the organizational structure of the department or
business department, which is an independent department with its own functional
departments (Griffin, and Moorhead, 2011). The functional structure is usually based on
business functions called departments-finance, procurement, etc. When a company has
multiple locations and each location operates independently, the geographic structure is
usually used. Through the matrix structure, the company is organized around teams gathered
for specific tasks, and team members often report to one person (including team leaders and
supervisors of functional members). The organizational structure of a small business may be
functional-based on business tasks (Brief, and Weiss, 2002). Although small businesses are
usually satisfied with their hierarchical structure, employees need some form of
organizational structure to know who is controlling their work and help solve problems. This
structure can also help them understand the growth potential of the business. In addition,
when an organizational structure or hierarchy is to be developed during growth, the
expanding business can minimize the pain of growth.
