The documents provide guidance on inspecting safety harnesses and lanyards and identifying defects that require removal from service.

Components that should be inspected on a safety harness include webbing, buckles, D-rings, adjusters, sewing and hardware.

Signs that would indicate a safety harness needs to be replaced include cuts, tears or excessive wear in the webbing, broken or damaged buckles, D-rings or hardware, or broken or worn sewing threads.
